VictoriaâÂÂs wedding was widely publicised, and widely copied, sparking a huge increase in the number of brides who wore white (and the brides who wore lace, and the popularity of honiton lace, just as she had hoped). However, it wasnâÂÂt enough to make white the mode for every bride. In the 1840s white was still a very expensive fabric and colour, and only fairly wealthy women could afford a white dress. Some with just enough money did manage it, and then re-dyed the dress successively darker colours to hide marks and make it last for further seasons, meaning that there are less extant white wedding dresses than we might expect. In addition, in 1840 the US was still struggling to establish its national identity, and women in the US were less inclined to take up fashions started by a British queen. This would change in the 1860s when the American Civil War encouraged women in both the South and the North to look to Britain as a cultural and fashion leader. Victoria and Albert enjoyed their wedding so much, they recreated it several times over their lives. They saved their wedding dress and updated it. Several photos and paintings recreated this - theirs was a true love story. They had 9 children, in addition to her royal duties. I believe everyone gets stars today!! Check some of the local TV stations near you. Many will stream their news programs. Some only while they're broadcasting but often you can watch it - depends on the station. The historically big "news" radio station around here has gone nuts with the BS announcers and talk shows with biased hosts so I don't even listen to them for weather anymore, although their weather has gone downhill too since economizing. I listen to public radio in the vehicle mostly now. Online there's a couple I listen to. For me, a good radio broadcast is often better than tv since they have to be clear and not talk with their hands and stuff. The talking head anchors on news shows that are so video reliant just can't communicate. I will occasionally watch a Canadian broadcast or BBC on public TV too. Otherwise, I catch headlines on local news, catch some more online, radio and stories of interest I'll check into further. It was nice to avoid the Casey Infamy party. I've been staying at my cousin's a lot lately with his medical problems and he has satellite. I just shook my head and went glad I don't waste my money on it. The only things worth watching were vintage sitcoms and I can get them online.

These sites often will often have a short explanation of how they are not breaking the law, which usually is some combination of: 1) We don't host any of the actual content, we merely have links to others sites that host and deliver the content. or 2) We are located in some other country where copyright law is written differently, or merely never enforced. What they gloss over is that the site to which they link, which actually does host and deliver the content, is very likely breaking the law. But since they are usually anonymous file upload sites, its hard to track and since they are often located in other countries, the enforcement of the law is lax at best. And more importantly, actually using the site is a violation of copyright law. So while the above listed websites might have nothing to fear, those who use the sites (especially if they are in the U.S., or some other country that allows and supports vigorous copyright enforcement) may face massive fines, similar to what have been levied for downloading music illegally. As far as I know, no one has been charged or fined for using one of these sites, but if it happens, it will likely be massive Furthermore I have frequently heard that the sites that actually host and deliver the content are lax about ensuring the content or the ads adjacent to the content are malware-free, so if you plan to visit them be sure you have up-to-date virus/malware detection/prevention software. It might be scare tactics by the movie/TV show makers, but it at least seems reasonable that people who are willing to illegally upload movies or TV shows, might have no qualms about other illegal activities, (such as phishing for online bank access info)
