Windows 7 Live Mail 2011

I have just gotten a new Dell Studio Laptop 1558 running Windows 7, and it came with Windows 7 Live Mail. This is supposed to be the newer, fancier version of Windows Live Mail. Unfortunately, I HATE this newer version, and want the older version. This new one has a feature called "Quick Access" which shows and separtes mail from more than one email account.

In OE it all came in at one place, and that's what I want again. My question is, does anyone know if it's possible to get rid of the "Quick Access" part and then compact the email so I don't have to keep bouncing back and forth from one account to the other? I just want to read it all at once like I have before? If not, I wonder if I can find the older version Live Mail. I know it's not possible to use OE anymore, but surely there's a better solution than this.

There is a "sync" option, but on mine the different accounts all show up on the left panel. I definitely like OE better, but I've gotten used to Live Mail. I don't think Live Mail has changed since Windows 7 first came out, and I know I don't have a "newer, fancier version of Windows Live Mail." Your other option is to try Thunderbird, but I just couldn't get used to that, so I abandoned it and use Live Mail on my Win 7 computer. I still use my old XP and trusty OE. :-)

Thanks grandms for your reply. My accounts also show on the left and that's the problem. Sounds strange, but under OE there was one "Inbox", one "Sent", one "Draft" etc, etc. and all I had to do was click the "Inbox" and see all my messages. Now there are (in my case) 2 "Inboxes", 2 "Sents" etc and it's driving me crazy. To add to all this, I used to get messages that come in with a dark font and once read it would lighten, so you could tell at a glance what's read, what's not. NOW I have one account's Inbox that stays dark even though I KNOW I've read it.

Sorry for the rant, but I just hate this. Grrrrr.

Raven, I read about Spicebird on Kim Komando's site and downloaded the setup file to a flash drive using my desktop computer. When I went to install on the Windows 7 machine, it would not install, indicating I had a corrupt download. So I just downloaded Thunderbird directly and used it a good part of today. I haven't quite figured out everything about it, but it is working for me and all three of my web mail programs are working with it. I guess I'll look for a good tutorial and make sure I have everything set up correctly. I think there are some add ons available, too. It certainly beats Windows Live Mail.

Well, Joe, today the check mark is gone and I can stay online while using my mail program. I have no idea how this happened to begin with, nor do I have any idea how it corrected itself. Just glad it's working again. And, I did reboot several times, too.

thank you, but it's only in the suite there. I finally gave up and downloaded it from cnet, used the option for mail only, but it installed other things which I will delete.

The ribbon is the tool bar above the contacts, click on home. After I click on select .csv. I am lost, it just takes me to my PC not my email contacts. Here is a link that might be useful: exporting contacts This post was edited by EmmaR on Thu, Jul 4, 13 at 16:52
