Problem with KitchenAid Gas Range Grates

Two years ago I purchased a KitchenAid Gas Range with heavy cast iron grates, coated in glossy porcelain. So far, I've had to have these grates replaced two times and I'm going to have to have them replaced again. The problem is that one of the burners is so hot that it makes the porcelain bubble up and flake right off the cast iron.

That burner has been adjusted a few times and when that didn't solve the problem, the entire burner mechanism was finally replaced. Still the grate over heats, bubbles and flakes. I've extended my warrantee twice just to make sure that I don't have to pay for these repairs/replacements. I do not believe in extended warrantees so this is not making me happy.

Has anyone else had this happen to their grates? After the porcelain flakes off, the grate is subject to rust and looks terrible. I don't think I should have to put up with this.
