Monogram's new fully integrated fridge/freezer!?!
Comments (8)sallybeth, I only looked at integrated 36 inch frig/freezer combo. For my kitchen, full integration was absolutely essential. This is something that is important to you or not.... 36 inch is all the space I had for my kitchen. I did not want to give up 6 more inches for 42 SxS and 36 SxS is a useless frig/freezer for me from my past experience. I considered 30 refrigerator only with freezer drawer as an option but in the end decided that it was not for me. Subzero in that configuration had horrible interior layout. Subzero all frig interiors are not too bad but their bottom frig interiors with two drawers actually are quite useless in that you canot accomodate larger items in the drawers very easily.... There is only a tiny drawer space in the refrigerator which is completely inadequate for a family's produce. I seriously looked at Miele and Thermador. Both Miele and Thermador has nearly twice as much drawer space. Thermador has the shelves that move up and down. (can't remember about the Miele) Miele does not allow for milk jugs in the door and Thermador does. I even called the company. Both Miele and Thermador uses similar components and felt that they both had "good" track record. In the end, the milk jug in the door was the deciding factor for ME..... I am happy with my Thermador....See MoreLiebherr Fully Integrated Fridge v. Built-In
Comments (10)It's odd. I actually just revisited the design guides Liebherr publishes for the built-in and integrated options, and the language on top ventilation is almost identical Both state that "there must be a ventilation space at least 31 in. (200 cm) at the airï¬Âow inlet (1) and at the airï¬Âow outlet (2)," and that the top vetilation can be directed (a) directly over the appliance through a vent/grill, (b) above the cabinet and below the ceiling, or (c) through a vent in a soffit. The ONLY difference is that for some reason the built-in references only venting directly above the unit using the "optional factory air vent," while the integrated says you can use " an optional factory air vent or custom made one using the template supplied with the unit." Realistically, it looks like the major difference in appearance between the two options is that built in has the vent at the base as part of the unit, fairly large and prominent, and integrated has a smaller grill or opening you can put in your own toekick. See page 4 of the design guide you can download at the attached link. Comments (12)Greg, yes -- I have the columns in stainless and they are beautiful. I never really liked the grill over the top of most built-ins and this use of space makes so much more sense to mer -- as well as looks better. Mine are installed side by side with the kit. They are very quiet and the ice maker has worked well. I questioned it once when my son was taking a cooler of ice water to band camp each day and we were using ice at home, but I think the drawer got put back without getting pushed back all the way. It wasn't the best time to discover that, but we never ran out and those were the hottest days of our summer. I really like the way it looks, but I enjoy how well the space is used inside. I love the full extension drawers. The location and size of the drawers and compartments has worked well. It's just easy to use -- both the fridge and the freezer. I did look at the SZ 736. I like the look of it, but for the life of me, I don't know why SZ thinks people want to reach dow to the floor for ice. Doesn't seem practical here in TX and it wouldn't be good for me -- I have neck problems. Our KD wanted us to see one on display. We waited to see it and decided against it in a matter of a few seconds. And it was design --not even getting to reliability or lack of....See MoreLiebherr Fully Integrated Fridge v. Built-In
Comments (0)We have finally decided to go with a Liebherr custom paneled refrigerator, but now are deliberating between their fully integrated refrigerators versus their built-ins. The built-ins have greater capacity, but don't fully blend into the cabinetry as far as I can tell. (The pictures aren't great, but it looks like maybe the top grill shows?) If there are other Liebherr owners out there, I'd love to hear whether the integrated models' capacity is sufficient. (We do have an overflow fridge in our mudroom off the kitchen which will help.) And/or, whether the built-in models look integrated enough. Thanks!!...See Moremacybaby
