Liebherr Integrated 24in Fridge/Freezer - Anyone Have One Or Two?
Comments (4)We have one of the 24" fully integrated Liebherrs adjacent to a 30" Thermador Freedom refrigerator. The Liebherr was installed in September '09. Yes, we love it, although the best thing about this refrigerator is that I don't even notice it's there most of the time: it's dead quiet. Since we have a full freezer in our lower level, we didn't feel the need to have much freezer space in the kitchen, although I am surprised just how much we can stuff into those three freezer drawers. Sometimes I cram in so much that it's a bit difficult to open and close the freezer drawers, but that's entirely on me. The Liebherr has become what we call our "condiment refrigerator." It holds MANY bottles plus extra milk, eggs, seltzer, and the like. I will say that right after it was installed, I was a bit disconcerted by the condensation running down the back wall even though I knew it was part of the refrigerator's normal operation. I have not noticed much, if any, moisture on that wall for quite some time which may be because most of what we store in the Liebherr is sealed. All in all, I am very happy with it, especially since it was a floor model that we purchased at a deep discount....See MoreDifference between built-in and fully integrated
Comments (1)With built in, you can see the "stuff" behind the panels. Stainless and rubber bits. Like having the curtain pulled back on the Wizard. With fully integrated, there's no hint that it's even an appliance. If you want it to look like a 14th century Japanese Tansu, if you have the cabinet maker who can do the millwork, then it can look like that....See MoreIs This Built-In or Fully Integrated?
Comments (1)That Liebherr is an integrated model. Integrated refrigerators can take stainless panels and get that completely flush look. You just don't tend to see it as often because of the price difference. I think people figure that if the fridge is going to be visible anyway, why not save more money and deal with it poking out a little bit....See MoreBuilt-In Fridges: KitchenAid KBFN406EPA or Liebherr HCB2062?
Comments (11)The lights are all 3-3/4"; Lightolier 2000LV. I like the smaller aperture of the recessed cans, but to be honest these were chosen by our architect and not us. This was one of those things where I figured a recessed can was a recessed can and I didn't need to do the research myself. In retrospect, if I were choosing, I'd go with something the same size, but a can that (a) didn't have an MR-16 lightbulb -- they are a pain in the @(# to change, and (b) was a wider floodlight so the pool of light spread out more. But I'm really nitpicking when I say this. One more factor -- these are halogen. I'm kinda nuts about wanting halogen lights rather than LED. You're seeing correctly; one set of cans is centered in the aisle. The row of lights that's at the edge of the counters was something I added during the renovation because I'm very nuts about lighting. I like a kitchen where you don't have to turn on the under-counter lights in order to cook at night. To me, adding those cans made a huge difference, but your mileage may vary. I'm sure some people would be perfectly content with just the aisle lights -- perhaps particularly if they had a wider flood angle. We considered the Thermador built-in as well. As I recall it didn't have the capability to have split shelves (so... less flexible interior), and also had the compressor on the bottom, so it was high, like the Liebherr. There was something else regarding the door shelves that we didn't like, as I recall... perhaps they weren't adjustable, either, or the opaque bottom... but it's a well-reviewed fridge, to be sure. These choices are so personal!...See Morejsceva
