Liebherr HC2062 vs HCB2062?
Comments (2)Hi There - I am trying to figure out which of these French Door 36" integrated model refrigerators to buy. Does anyone have any insight on repair records? Usable inside fridge space? (less concerned with freezer space)? Or if either has a water dispenser inside the door (I didn't find that option online - only ice maker in freezer drawer.) Lastly, I was also considering the Kitchen Aid french Door 42" wide, but have read a lot of reviews complaining about items freezing in the fridge (eg, lettuce!) Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, J...See MoreLiebherr frost problems in fridge compartment?
Comments (34)Hi, OP here though I haven't been on this thread in several years... safemommy, I just measured my top and bottom freezer drawers, and 13.5" is exactly how far my drawers extend. I've removed the ice cube tray with that extension, but I don't think I've ever tried to remove the entire compartment. Paula Piekos, about three years after I got the replacement unit, my center rubber seals split, but I was able to get an authorized repairman to order and replace the seals, I did not have to order a whole new door. I am talking though only about the middle whether the two doors come together, not the ones that go all around perimeter where the door seals against the body. But I do vaguely recall that parts and labor for that came out to about $350, wasn't cheap. The new ones have been on for about seven years now, and are starting to split in one place - I try to wipe down the contact areas on the seals to reduce friction to keep them longer. When the repairman came, I was going to try to observe how he replaced those center seals, so I could do it myself next time, but I got distracted. I know they simply slide on and off; however, there's one or two hard plastic parts that he removed to get access. Thankfully I've had no major problem with the replacement fridge over 10 years. Occasionally the upper freezer drawer would mysteriously ice up and be hard to open/close; turns out if the ice scoop handle sticks up too much it prevents the drawer from being fully closed. The small fan at the bottom of the unit, behind the screwed on grill, got out of balance and off-center, and started to make horrible screeching, and took two repair visits to replace the fan and motor. But otherwise has worked reliably.......See MoreHelp- Kitchen Aid CD Fridge Terrible!
Comments (9)Cabinet-depth and Built-In are two different things. My KA Pro-Line CD free standing fridge's body (i.e. without the doors) is 24" deep, but requires a good 1 1/2" or so behind it for the water lines on the back of the fridge. My cabinet maker made the gables on either side of the fridge deeper, to allow for a proper installation and it also gives a nice flush place for the counter top to end. A picture would help. Do you have gables on either side of the fridge? They should be deeper, along with the cabinet above the fridge if you have one. Of course a different more shallow fridge would also solve the problem. I'm not a fan of paneled fridges unless they're truly invisible built-ins, so I don't know the options out there, but I love our KA Pro Line....See MoreAlternative to Liebherr french door fridge?
Comments (20)I was lusting after the Liebherr FD for a long time and I still think the huge produce drawers in that fridge are awesome. However, when it came to the crunch I found that the fridge was just too tall for me and I really didn't like the full width shelves (prefer split ones you can move independently on each side). I was also not impressed with the freezer space, but perhaps that would have been fine in practice. Moreoever, stainless would have been a compromise for me because I actually wanted a white fridge - obviously I'm in a minority there though :). With all these factors I decided that the KA Architect 72" tall counter depth FD was the one for me (no exterior water/ice - just the interior). At the time it had an upgraded interior vs the shorter model although it was quite a bit more expensive than the shorter model. I am not convinced the upgrades are worth the extra money but I wanted a fridge that was not going to annoy me so I got it anyway. Mine is in a freestanding application, no cabinetry, and that also negated the need for a truly flush unit, although I did want CD. I have had it for ca 18 months and so far it has been great with no problems. The only thing I would change is to eliminate the water dispenser: I do not use it and the water tastes like hell (plastic). The deli drawer also seems a bit flimsy but I guess it could be replaced if it breaks. I also thought they were a bit skimpy on the door bins and I bought a couple of extra online. I do love the ice maker though, having never had a fridge that made ice before this is an incredible luxury for us, and I am happy with it down in the freezer. I have a CSA farm share so have to store a ton of produce. I find that the "green bags" do a great job and I can store them on the bottom shelf above the deli drawer so that makes up for the smaller produce drawers. Good luck!...See MoreRelated Professionals
