Downloaded 7.0. Juno Will No Longer E-mail?

The subject says about all. Yesterday I downloaded WE 7.0. Juno is my ISP. Since then I cannot read or write e-mail from there. Juno's e-mail screen accepts received messages but says "Juno is unable to display e-mail message" and "This is most likely due to semder's e-mail software". Bull.

I cannot get ActiveX add-on's to add on. I've contacted Juno using AOL's free mail. They replied but nothing helped. Any thoughts? Thanks, Gene

I use Juno and IE 7 works perfectly fine for me, in fact I've used every version of IE 7 beginning with the beta's, never a problem.
You may want to click on the New feature at Juno called "Troubleshoot Email"
If you want to remove IE 7, go to the Control Panel / Add or Remove, if you remove ie7, it will go back to ie6.

Good Sunday Morning. Although I've had a computer since 1990 I never learned much. First of all I'm still running Juno 5.0. I tried Juno 7.0 a year or two ago and didn't like the format. So, I got a 5.0 CD and that's where I've stayed.

I downloaded IE7.0 again but this time into a different file (one hour and 20 minutes on dial up). Then I deleted the IE7.0 I originally downloaded. Since then my email came back and the entire Juno 5.0 system is working except for a few quirks I can live with.

I have not activated the new IE7.0 so I must have another IE running somewhere in the background or my system wouldn't even function. Right? I would like to load IE7.0 but am afraid things will again go to pot, so to speak. But, at least, I know if I have to delete it I won't be dead in the water. Maybe I'll give it a shot one day but not for a while.

Update on photo issues: ravencajun: YES! My system restore is clicked ON. zep516: Neat link, thanks. The site owner, Steve Maurer lives 30 miles south of me. We have never met tho. I ran into a issue on page 4 of the directions. It says to right click and choos Paste...that was not a choice. I did make progress by using his information on page 7, using the regsvr32 shimgvw.dll, after doing that, I can now send individual photo's and resizing them, however, I still can't send files of photos and resize them. I must get away from this evil machine for tonight, will keep trying tomorrow. Thanks to all for the great help. Steve

Oh come on mikie...its got problems. I don't know if they have fixed the access to FTP sites or not yet, and there are conflicts with java, and many websites haven't had enough time to adjust to the security changes. Its bigger and prettier and slower. I liked the magnification settings and the spiffy layout...other than that. There wasn't one mod I could download for Morrowind without problems, after the lame rollback ...I could get them. For the amount of money I have to pay Charter and the access I was being denied, it wasn't worth keeping. Why pay for webpages you can't get to, and email that you can barely use? Its just not ready. marf

But I did not mind it until it needed to get someone out here to work on it.You need a translator to talk with them on the phone and you get the run around. It sounds like Hughesnet must have customer service (???) farmed out to somewhere overseas. Back when I had WB (about 12 days before cancelling it), I had several outages and it was always an hour or more on hold to get in touch with a tech. After one storm, a tech told me I would not have service again until the sky was clear...as in a clear blue sky, as opposed to being cloudy and overcast...sheesh. The last time I talked to Wild Blue repair (before cancelling it) I was told it would be 10 days to get someone out here to look at my 12 day old equipment. In the meantime, I had no service at all. I said I wasn't gonna rant, but just can't help how badly they upset me. I really never expected WB to be all that fast. I would have just been pleased if it worked at all. I, like you, had phone line 'issues' and was told that they (the Phone Co) was only responsible for providing 'talk quality' service. Sue

It IS a very strange situation, indeed. And here's some more weirdness. None of the e-mails stay on the server...I double checked and everything was downloaded, per the settings. When I first started looking for a prog to replace WLM, I started using Outlook....but the e-mails were disappearing from the Inbox. I thought it was a problem with Outlook and even posted a query here on the forum. Never solved that issue, but disliking WLM more as time went on, I gave up on Outlook and thought I'd try Thunderbird. Then the same thing started happening! I had made TB the default and set WLM to NOT check automatically for mail....BUT...when I would open WLM to look at something in a folder there, it would check for mail on Startup and all my e-mails would show up. That's when all the messages in TB would disappear. When I realized this was happening, I opened Outlook, sent some test messages there and watched as they disappeared before my eyes when I opened WLM. Do you think maybe I'm incorrect about the mail staying on the server? Wouldn't I see it there when I go online to check?

Gene, when you installed IE7, whatever version you were using previously was still there (probably 6?)and you can continue to use that if you're not certain about IE7. Your problem may be that the older version of Juno is not compatible with IE7.

Randy what version of Juno are you using? I have the 5.0 and I am having the same problem as candler with the 7.0. If there is a way to get the Juno to work and run the 7.0 I would sure like to know which version it works with so that I can run that one. Thanks for the info

I'm not going to be of much help because I use Juno 4.11 and you won't like that because of the error messages you'll get when connecting because it's so old.
I just opened Juno webmail with IE7 and sent an email out, works fine for me. All settings are original on IE7, since I just downloaded it today so I could check for you.
I do remember Juno sending out an email in the beginning saying that IE7 may cause some problems with Juno, but they should have worked the bugs out by now.
