I would run the Norton Removal Tool in the link provided. Then check for those files again. Those are HP printer files not sure why there associated with Symantec/Norton.

Just wanted to say that I recently removed Norton from my computer, too (once the one-year subscription was up), and didn't use the removal tool - everything seems to be working fine. I have found files with Norton and Symantec, though, but have been a bit afraid to remove them - guess I should. Can they just be removed by deleting them w/o the removal tool?

I downloaded AVG with no problems.

A tangent question usually should be posted on its own so members can see it and it doesn't get lost over time. However, your concern is a continuation of the original question so please don't worry. It is very kind of you to be concerned though.

It has been my experience when cleaning up a system after the owner has removed Norton without the removal tool that deleting the remaining orphan files manually has not been a problem. A basic START>Search locates the files where they can be right-clicked on and removed.

As I reported on another thread, this is also one of the few times I recommend the use of CCleaner's Registry Tool. The user should run the tool and review the report. All entries referring to Norton or Symantec can be removed. No guessing though. If you are not sure leave the entry alone. And of course when offered a backup option the user should approve the request.

Another suggestion for removing orphan files and registry entries is to use Revo Uninstall in one of the more advanced modes. It will show those entries and you can then remove them.

Dee, Don't worry about asking a question on this thread. Like DA said, as long as it is about the same subject, I think it is ok. In fact I think it may be preferred. Questions and answers may appear that the OP might miss if you asked on another thread. So, hey, it's alright with me.

Grandms, I have Revo on my machine, but since I was on theirs, I used the Norton uninstall. Should have gone ahead and installed Revo.

My dear friend Grandms will correct me if I am wrong, but I think she was reporting that REVO will offer the removal of orphan files, if necessary, during a complete removal process in REVO's Advanced Mode.

Unless I have missed a feature somewhere, it will not do a cleanup after the application's uninstaller has been used independently. The reason is REVO requires an application to target and that application will already have been removed from the Add/Remove report.

DA, you are right. If the uninstall has already been done via Add/Remove, Revo cannot do its job. It must be used from the "git go".
