Removed Norton AntiVirus

Norton been giving me problems for some time. When I first get on the internet I can do nothing due to so much Norton activity for almost 30 minutes. Went to the symantec site to download the uninstall Norton. I tried for 2 days at different times to download with no luck. I have RegSeeker and went to installed programs and was able to remove Norton, almost. Then I ran a search for Norton and was able to delete 15 more items. The I ran a search for Symantec and was able to delete 28 out of 30 items. They were to do with liveupdate. I have AVG, Ad-aware SE Personal, SpywareBlaster, and CHShreader on my computer, all free ware. Any suggestions on improvement on protection. Your help will be welcome Kay
