I too like my privacy and was amazed that this is possible without opting in.

Based on your post I went to Photos/Options/People tagging. There it showed that I was allowing others to view but I dragged the pointer down to "Just me" and saved, now these are not visible to others.

Then I went to Options/Privacy/Advanced and see other things to be edited to control my privacy. Remember to save after changing of course.

Here is the info on deleting your photo. You might find one or two other snippets of interest there for Skydrive. I found this after writing the first part of my reply.

This came out a few months ago, Hotmail/Microsoft decided that tons of what most of us would consider personal information would be released without the users knowledge or consent. You need to adjust your privacy settings within Hotmail to opt-out. These controls are not necessarily easy to find nor intuitive so you might want to use Google for additional information.

Thank you both. I have just adjusted the People tagging thing as you suggested, Owbist. Then I tried your link. At first, the photo in question stubbornly remained, but just now when I checked again, it had become invisible.

Mike, I remember that there was a problem with Google giving out or keeping private info, and your post reminded me to check on what's going on there, too. I will also check what Google has to say about Skydrive. It is unconscionable that Hotmail/Microsoft would release personal info like this.

Owbist where did you find the Options >privacy> advanced?

on my hotmail inbox page I see an options button but in that list is not a privacy and advanced option.

I HATE the changes they have done to hotmail and all the live stuff that goes with it. I have found that messenger which I never use was also on a while back and there was all kinds of info about people in my contact list becoming friends with so and so. I detest having to try to dig around and find out to undo the stuff they have done with out my permission.

Here you go RC, that was a challenge getting back there a second time I must say. Makes one feel almost like an intruder even on my own computer, ha ha.

I opened Windows Live page where I am logged in
Clicked Options just below where it says 'Hotmail highlights'
Windows Live Home settings appears so I clicked Windows live in the left column and a whole page of options appear.
Clicked the Privacy tab on the left side
In the new window I clicked to highlight my current settings, set them how I felt I needed them and saved. The Advanced button is next to the Save button

Thanks to all, I to have hotmail, but do not post any pictures. Just use it for one site but have had others post I do not know, so I delete. Wonder if I should go thru this and check for photos maybe put on by certain relatives etc. Or just leave stuff alone.

Ok I thought I had found that area a while back by using the instructions on a recent windows secrets newsletter guide and I was correct I had. But it is just crazy that you have to jump through hoops to find where to do those settings. It should be obvious and right on the Hotmail page. Not to mention it should be default set to NOT share anything.
They are fast pushing me away from hotmail, I used to love it not so much these days.

Marie I do not post pics out there either but 4 were showing up. Three were stupid images ( a pig with teeth, an Emu and one other which were used as avatars. The fourth was emailed to me to remove red eye.

Raven perhaps this is larger than just Hotmail. Windows 7 comes with no email program so many will load Live as I did. Mostly I use Outlook as I have MS Office but many will not be so fortunate as to have that option. Not sure I want to abandon so soon as canada.com is set to stop email service effective December 8th.
