Sub-Zero vs Viking Fridge
Comments (12)dodge - the public doesn't really know whether LG acquired Viking. They announced a "strategic partnership" in Jan. but there were no details forthcoming. Viking is privately held and there are a few likely scenarios: 1. LG bought Viking or a majority stake and is keeping it quiet. - Not likely. 2. They bought a small piece of the action with an option to acquire more after a long engagement if it goes well. - More plausible, but still not likely. 3. They are going to manufacture Viking badged gear at cut rates in large quantities to replace the high $$$ domestic stuff that Viking can't move in large #'s now. - most likely. It's tough to figure this one out because the investment bankers that control Viking aren't idiots, neither are the Koreans and they've got the gold at the moment. It seems unlikely that the Viking group can get a reasonable return on their investment right now and they aren't going to give it away either as long as it's not bleeding cash. They are probably trying to hold on till things turn around and then sell to the Koreans when the #'s look a bit better for both sides. There is still tremendous brand equity in the name. For the short term I don't think LG will have any effect on Vikings domestic parts and service. It's not a market leader in either catagory anyway....See MoreIs our Wolf/Sub package cost a deal?
Comments (11)I don't know if you've looked around, but the economy has not been that good for the past couple of years. These appliance places are eager to make deals. I honestly thought when I started this process that you did not negotiate when buying appliances. In the Chicago area there really are only a few places to get a Wolf range. I stopped at Grand appliance first as that's where out GC sources from. Without asking for any discount he came back at me with the free dishwasher and dryer and half off on the washer. I visited ABT afterwards to check out their GREAT showroom and left with a few questions. I went online and did their live chat service and the sales person answered all my questions. He asked if I had quotes from anywhere else and I provided that and that's when he proceeded to match, throw in some extras, and extend all the warranties to get the deal done :). So overall very happy with ABT thus far. Oh and for anyone that has not done it, go to the Wolf cooking demonstration! The 6 course meal was fantastic and the chefs were hilarious. Really gave some nice background to how all the appliances work too....See Morereplacing water filter for sub zero BI36U
Comments (3)Update due to new information. If your serial number on your refrigerator is between 4116297 and 4134313, please call SubZero at (800) 222-7820. 1st generation of these refrigerators utilized a push mechanism to attach the filter. This is being phased out and new units are like I mentioned above. Yours will need to be converted and SubZero will do this at no charge but you need to coordinate through them, not just any service place....See MoreSub-Zero flush inset installation
Comments (2)The salesman is correct. There is no way to attach the handles to the panels. This is potentially done pre-emptively by SubZero to keep the weight on the door reasonable. You have two choices: Flush inset installation w/o the handles, utilizing the integrated handle. Or forgo the flush inset, order the SS model of BI-36 with the handles already attached....See More59 Dodge
