WANTED: Someone was supposed to get a package today, did you che

AHHHHHH I forgot to bring my tracking number with me to check to see if my package was delivered. When they picked it up they told me that it was guaranteed for delivery today. I called UPS but without the tracking number they can't or won't help me. So here is hoping that someone is soooooo busy opening my package that they haven't gotten a chance to post that it got there. I am afraid the breakables in the box had broken and someone got a package full of a mess.

    Stacie, check your email.

Well, Ann tried to call me and I just checked the email that she sent me. Apparently the whole package arrived with everything that I sent destroyed. I am so upset, I just can't believe this. I worked so hard to have this happen, and can't stop the tears about this.....

lisanh, I know what you mean. We were supposed to get snow too but have had rain since sat night so all of the snow is gone at least for today. When I open the cellar door it sounds like someone is running a bath, and the sump pump is on more than off. So are your bees in the hives or are you holding off for warmer temps?

Good to know. I figured the bottle is a good protector and the bubble warp envelope is insulated enough to make the journey. I am worried what I am going to do when I hit 60 if I am this way now. It's a good thing I didn't send my false teeth out. Stush

Well I for one am happy. :-) sorry, but not being involved in this one - I"m watching it like a hawk and wondering when the heck someone is going to send out - LOL! Stacy (who is always near the last to mail hers out) Congrats Shaun - can't wait to see what you sent!

Did you hire someone to retile your fireplace?

I've had one fireplace done like maire_cate and then had another where rock was removed, the box built back up, cement board installed, and the fp retiled. The former was inexpensive (when bundled with other jobs) but the latter was very, very expensive (but a more major project). The price seems like it is in the neighborhood of what to expect, though. Sometimes, however, when stuff comes down there are surprises. Like if the tile was directly laid on mortar on top of brick, things can get a bit more complicated.

Oh dear. This sounds terrible. It would be so frustrating to have this happen. I'm so sorry for you.

Stacie, I am so sorry. I know you must be devastated for your hard work and for your partner's disappointment. I think it would be harder on the sender than on the recipient to have this happen.

I spent a sleepless night getting about 3 hours of sleep and having some weird pregnancy induced dreams about swap packages. The worst is that we are out of town and hopefully Ann will be able to get a hold of me today. I was so excited about my partner and went searching for some unique items that I was sure she would love. A lot of what I sent can't be replaced but will start the search today to start all over.

Oh Stacie, I am so sorry. I know how much effort you put into these packages. That really is a bummer. But friends remember it is always the thought that counts.

Stacie, I would be glad to contribute an item to your package. Maybe it could be a collaborative package, I hate the thought of you having to start over.

Mustangs..I am so touched at your offer..

I am sorry for both girls..

I have often wondered how all your glass things make it..

I have received broken items..and my friends still don't know..Because it was never a swap..they were gifts..

I feel guilty of not saying anything but know the sender would feel awful..I said nothing:) Here we (I mean you) post pictures etc..there is just no way around it..

    Terribly disappointing..

    Poor Recipient and Stacie..

But what a star Mustangs is:)

Oh Stacie, I feel so bad for you. It's such a mission to go out and shop specifically for that one special person we are assigned to. An extraordinary amount of thought goes into each purchase. And to have it all arrive damaged........ there can't be anything worse. I'm so sorry. Was there any insurance on it?

    Poor you... poor recipient. Gosh.....

I just got off the phone with Ann, and I let her know that I will get to work today and go shopping. Thank you for the offers of helping me out, I appreciate them.

I had such fun putting together this package, I guess I will get the fun of putting together another one:) Every piece of glass was broken, and the package was swimming in pickles and tomatoes.

Oh Stacie...I know how you worried. My Swap Box had 6 fragile items in it, 5 glass, 1 china, and I packed so carefully but still worried.

    So...so sorry Stacie.

I would be more then happy to contribute a swap item if anything is organized.

Oh Stacie! How heartbreaking. I worry every minute my package is en route (until it makes its destination) over that very thing happening. Bubble wrap has become my best friend throughout these swaps!

Mustangs, you are a sweetie! Stacie, if you need some assistance, I'd gladly throw my hat in the ring to help out, too!

These swaps bring us all a little closer together in ways you don't expect sometimes, don't they?!

I know that many of you are willing and ready to jump in an help and I thank you for that. But everything is under control.

I just got off the phone from talking with Stacie and her partner. I'm not revealing who Stacie's partner is though, you will have to wait until next week to find that out when he/she posts.

Stacie, enjoy the basketball games and the time alone with your DH.

Ah man....It's nice to know that even when our worst nightmare happens, we still can bounce back.
Each one of us frets over this, every time we send a parcel out...

I'm sorry that you have to go through this Stacie.

Man Stacie, I'm so sorry to be reading this tonight. I sure hope the package was insured. Like you, I worry about everything arriving okay. You are a real trooper to get another package off to your partner.....I sure hope you still had a good time/break in Lincoln.

Stacie, I think we all worry about things arriving intact. Since I sent a jar of roasted garlic and tomato soup to Lori and it got broken, I learned to put all my canned goods inside a ziplock bag and then pack it in bubble wrap, so at least the rest of the package doesn't get soaked. Sigh.

Actually, I've had pretty good luck, only a couple of my items have been received broken and I can only remember one that I ever got being broken. I think, though, that I "overpack" because of those couple of broken items and I always worry when I send something breakable.

It just a horrible thing to happen with everything being ruined. Darn it. I'll watch for the next package to arrive successfully.

Bummer, Stacie. I hope it was insured. I always seem to send glass...but I've been lucky so far. I have a collection of assorted packing materials in the basement.

It sounds like your package was horribly mistreated. I hope it was insured... what a pain! Your swap partner will appreciate your efforts, I'm sure.

Thats so terrible for you Stacie!!! I have never really thought about that happening, but I guess it does.Sorry to hear that!!! If there's anything I can do. Diana55

Stacie, I'm sorry about your package and it's contents being ruined. It is always a bummer when an item breaks.

Cathy (mustangs) received the first swap box I ever sent out. I remember her telling me it took forever to get all the taped on bubble wrap off! LOL!

Stacie, that is so heartbreaking! I am always amazed that there are so few "casualties" among the many swap boxes sent.

I sent a bottle of wine to Gina a few swaps back and it broke, but to have everything break? It would seem that UPS may have drop kicked you box!

Good luck, and I would be happy to help out, too, just say the word.

    Linda

I think you are right Linda. No matter how carefully we wrap there is always the possibility of something breaking. But for so many things to break UPS had to be at fault.

Stacie, I hope you didn't let this bother you all weekend and that you were able to enjoy some of your alone time with your DH.

Karen, I still have one of your gifts left to unbundle! he he he

As said before, I'm not good at this so I guess it has been luck that has gotten my boxes to their recipients intact.

I've had a couple of breakages too. And Linda's wine smelled heavenly, LOL. Hope UPS does something for you.

Such sad news Stacie! All I can think about are Annie's eggs... it's all so random, some things make it intact, while others don't. I'm sorry, it must be so disappointing for you.

Catharine, that why I just stick with the post office and never use UPS. They broke a couple of lamps for my boss, a coffee pot for the office, several items from various places for me including a birthday gift for my Stepmother from Pfaltzgraf.

Nope, I stick with the Post Office, they can get a dozen eggs to NYC by priority mail without breaking them, I've had much better luck with them than with UPS, although they do take longer sometimes.
