And her new incarnation, Tikanas2!

While it may be better to give than recieve, Tikanas has been on both sides of a CF tapas party this swap! She sent me a wonderful selection, and it's perfect for the next "girls night in".

She knew I am "auditioning" new drinks and thoughtfully provided the keys to the rest of the cocktail party. Starting with a pair of gorgeous bright red dishes -- appropriately named "Flirty". A 6" square plate and a really cool comma-shaped bowl, with stylized olives sketched in black.

Talk about synchronicity; they go really well with the olive theme snack plates I got in a swap from Susi-que -- who just sent Tikanas a swap package with the same tapas theme that Tikanas used with me! -- but I get ahead of myself....

Tikanas sent more to dress the table -- a neat oil and vinegar set (slim, so I can store them in my over-stuffed shelves!) and a four part snack/oil server. Also some funky cocktail napkins that trumpet "girls night out".

But wait, there's more! Tikanas also sent some snacks to go along with the party. Garlic oil for dipping, TJ polenta for so many applications, and not just olives, but COLOSSAL olives, stuffed with jalapeno peppers. If that doesn't get the party jumping, I don't know what will!

And just in case I need a little inspiration, a gorgeous book of Spanish-style tapas, including recipes for things like fried manchego cheese (my new fav), lime-drizzled shrimp, tortilla espana and mojo sauce. Really, who doesn't need more mojo sauce?

Thank you so much, Tikanas! It's a wonderful package and fits just right, from the colors to the tastes to the funky shapes. You done good, and we'll be toasting you at the next "cocktail casting party"!

Yay! They arrived safely! When I saw those sundae glasses, I knew they'd be perfect -- so cool and summery. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures, but they are lovely colors, sort of a pale green and frosted blueberry. And then you had to have the sauces to go with the cups.... I'm glad you haven't tried the grilling papers before -- and that you're looking forward to them. As I said in my note, I was a little hesitant to send anything cedar out to the Pacific Northwest, but they're just so neat! I've grilled shrimp in them, and a vegetarian friend of mine loves doing veggies and cheese -- she says cedar smoked gouda is a real treat! I'm so glad they arrived, and that you like the items. I had a lot of fun wrapping them all up. (That box is fabulous, isn't it? )

What a great package! Not only the tools and the food, but some (ahem) appropriate music to enjoy as well! I've never heard of chile Japones or Puya -- what are they like? I haven't heard of horchata, either, but it sounds very Middle Eastern -- perhaps a transplant via Spain? Hope you enjoy the package, blueiris -- if you can't beat the heat -- overwhelm it!

My favorite is the book as well. The dishes you mention in it sound so yummy. Besides, I am a little addicted to good cookbooks. I like the kind where the recipes are good AND there is a little chit chat about the recipes that inspires you to make them. Must be why I love the cooking forum.

That is a great surprise that Tikanas sent and received a Tapas box. Well it is a great theme thoughtfully executed both times.
