Hardwood Flooring + HVAC Issue

Crosspost with the flooring forum because I think we are a more vocal group :)

We are in the midst of a ridiculous building adventure (26 months and counting due to serious contractor mistakes, but that is another story!) and have finally reached the point of installing the site-finished hardwood flooring.

The flooring installers took moisture readings today and found that the hardwood and the subfloor were within 2% of each other. At that point, they sanded the subfloor seams, applied an underlayment (Aquabar) and then laid out the hardwood flooring both upstairs and downstairs.

Unfortunately, this afternoon ALL of our upstairs vents started dripping water (condensate). This also happened yesterday, but the HVAC crew had supposedly "fixed" the issue this morning. Obviously, there is another issue or the original issue was not completely remedied. The HVAC technical specialist is insisting that the upstairs air handler be turned off overnight (at least) with only the fans running because he thinks that a coil has iced up...hopefully that is the only problem.

My question regards the fact that both my GC and my building consultant are saying that the installation of the downstairs hardwood flooring can continue as planned tomorrow morning as long as the moisture readings downstairs remain within that 2%...do you agree with this statement? Or, if this was your house, would you push off the hardwood installation until the dripping vents were completely remedied and the air conditioning is able to be used upstairs too? Also, one additional point, there are several two story areas in our home (great room/foyer), and the 2nd floor registers in both locations are also dripping onto the first floor hardwood that was laid out this afternoon.

They could be correct about the only piece of relevant information to installing the flooring being the moisture readings but with the 2nd floor vents actually dripping on the first floor hardwoods...I have a difficult time believing that this would not be an issue.

Thanks in advance for any thoughts/opinions
