I can help with that too. I will assume that this is Win XP Open a command prompt. Click Start and then Run, Type cmd and press Enter confirm that you are at a prompt that reads C:...if you are at C:\Documents and Settings\your user name..you simply need to type 'cd .' without the quotes, tap enter and repeat the step until you see only C:\ Type in cd system32 and press Enter Type in cd spool and press Enter Type in cd printers and press Enter Now that you are in the correct directory, type the commands net stop spooler and press Enter del *.* and press Enter (there is a space between del and the first asterisk) You will get a message asking that you confirm...press Y for yes Type net start spooler and press Enter and you are done This will clear the local printer queue and should allow you to delete the printer. Note***this command will work in Windows 7 or 8 also, but the path to find Run (and the command prompt) are slightly different.

I wanted to thank each of you for your suggestions about solving my problem. I tried each of your suggestions but without success, I wound up calling tec support and talked with a young man in the Philippines, he was very patient and got me through the process and I got the printer installed. Word of caution, read carefully the instructions when installing new hardware and when it says not to hook up the machine to the usb port before being told to do so during the installation process, DON'T DO IT. I was careless and it caused me a lot of aggravation........

Are the print jobs being sent to the printer queue? Are you seeing the little printer icon down is the system tray? When you open it up, is there an error on the first job? Maybe stopping and starting the print spooler would help. Open a command prompt (click start-->Run, type in cmd and click OK) type the following two commands and press the enter key after each: net stop spooler net start spooler Have you deleted or uninstalled the printer a couple of times? Trying to figure out why it's showing LPT3 and not LPT1 after a clean reload of Windows. The DOT4_001 port is related to the USB connection and is perfectly normal for an HP all in one (showing both is normal). Another thing I can think of, you might try uninstalling (deleting) the printer from the Printer and Faxes folder, then unplug the usb cable from the computer side. Restart Windows, then plug the USB back in. BTW, the others that are attempting to help you don't necessarily know what you mean when you write "Have re-installed os, anitvirus, drivers, downloads from both manufactures for all" or "Have checked settings and options, many times, will do it again". Maybe you are repeating the same steps over and over missing just one critical piece. Like, for instance, HP printers install better if you wait for the installation to complete before plugging in the USB cable. The installation will tell you to plug it in, but there is a check mark there allowing you to plug it in later. Sometimes scanning issues are power related too, maybe try a different electrical outlet. Hope you get it sorted, Pam

I can certainly sympathize with your situation...I have been without a printer for many months now because the ink cartridges are so expensive. I have a Canon Multipass 550 which has been a lifesaver in the past...being able to fax, copy and print...then when you do breakdown to buy one...install it and it still says empty cartridge, you really want to scream. But get this...the cartridge isn't the problem...it's the print head...to the tune of $50 or so and this is the third time I have replaced it and lord only knows how many cartridges were full before I wised up! Now get this....those print heads can be washed in your kitchen sink, dried on the counter and reinstalled...I sure am glad I saved the other two, i'll try that next time! But, now...I can't get the printer to print everything on the page....it prints one or two lines of the document, then skips a good paragraph size area and picks up the print again......any suggestions! and of course, it doesn't help that the manual is online and no hard copy is provided...I'm ready to do the old uninstall/reinstall thing and see if that helps! Technology sucks....here today, obsolete before noon the next day! and it wasn't a cheapee either...about $250- $300 smack a roos 2-3 years ago! Even with the cheapees....you spend a fortune on ink, that's were they make the money i guess! So what do I have to lose if the washing dosen't work......blank pages!
