Lumpy, you are right. The pink one in the back is Encyclia Cordigera. The tag says it smell like chocolate... I love chocolate scent! The Catt. in front is polka dot " Nalo". It is fragrant too. In this group, only the Dancing Lady " Sweet Ears" does not have scent. but it has pretty flowers... Majority of them have very healthy roots, only couple that start to have root rot issue. In general, these orchid are in much better/healthier condition than most moth orchids I have seen at Lowe's My guess is that these are U.S grow orchids, not like other orchids which may be shipped from overseas. I just repotted them with much fast drain orchid mix. Pray they'll survive. Sunshine, now you've mentioned it, I recall that I have never seen Lowe's carries B. nodosa and Maxillaria either till I bought them. All I've seen were the Catt. and Oncid. too just like what you've seen. Maybe these were in the back roll that I could have missed it. There is a very good orchid farm here, I usually get my orchids from them , not from Lowe's. I will browse for a bargain but will not seriously pay an orchid with full price at Lowe's. It may well be those Catt. and Oncid. etc. more showy flowers caught my eyes. Anyways, Lowe's must have had it somewhere. You might check your local Lowe's store again to see if you've missed them.

oh wait...I get it...you're building this house and this is the model. duh...I thought you were considering buying it for some reason. that explains the weird wall colors. Model home decorators always do weird wall stuff. I do like the cherry floors and cherry cabs. keep in mind that cherry gets darker with age so they will be even darker in a few years. To offset that, I would choose a lighter color granite than that in the model home. Something with gold tones in it but not too light, not as creamy as something like new venetian gold. Something in between. But nothing as dark as what they opted to use. That would really lighten the kitchen up without changing the cabinets or the floors.

Realism, actually the more I look at granite, I prefer the laminate. With some of the laminates and the new effects, I actually had to go over and knock on them to determine if they were real or not. We're going with bull-nosed edging on the laminate so I don't think it'll look cheap when it's finished. Hemera, ha, yeah I asked the builder about the floor…he was polite but basically said "yeah, you can't afford it…" ;) Ppbenn, yay! :) 35ftcabo, I LOVE your kitchen! Do you know the style/name of the handles you chose? That's what I'm looking for and haven't quite found yet. And in your first pic, what is the cabinet behind the peninsula? It almost looks like a hutch…was that a custom piece? It's gorgeous! Phoebesmom, do you have any photos of your finished kitchen? I'd love to see it "in action" rather than just the sample piece I've got. I really love the color, too!

Prickly is right. A peninsula is just an attached island. LOL Frugal we had one of those too, except our house was built in the 60s, added on to several times, remodeled last in the late 90s. Too bad they didn't fix the electrical. We took it off. Looks like it would be an easy job. You could get a cabinet maker to make another set uppers to match yours and stack them on top and add new crown molding. The wood grains are lovely. We actually matched our new cabinets' stain color with our old oak trim that we are reusing. Perfect match. We had a ton of oak wood from the suspended ceiling. Check out this lowered ceiling and all the oak boards they used. It had 12' ceilings above all that ugly plastic stuff. I have about 120 of those plastic rectangles that were in the suspended ceiling. I doubt Habitat for Humanity will take them. ðÂÂÂ
