I love it. I especially love the brick work and the details on the island!
I like how it flows to the great room with the matching built-ins and fireplace brick.

At first glance, it is beautiful especially the wood tones but after I looked some more I think the wall color is not right......it makes the kitchen look to dark. IMO

Good floor, great cabs, disgusting walls: literally made me queasy.

Gorgeous. Not many kitchen cabinets at all, but very pretty, none the less. It's your choice - do you need the cabinet space or not? I'd go crazy with that little amount, but each of us are different.

I also think they are beautiful, but like PP said, definitely wrong wall color. I think the cabinets themselves will look perfect!

I agree. The cabinets and floors would look good but not with that dark orange wall color. That wall needs to be lighter to provide more contrast with the wood.

On an open concept kitchen in a relatively small area, I don't want to feel that the whole space is kitchen. The dark monochromatic design, including the rich looking cabinetry and wood floors achieves that.

I agree - nice kitchen, the cabinets and floor and granite work, but not that wall color. It looks as if they were pulling the color from the highlights in the granite and it was a big mistake. A lighter color, perhaps a neutral similar to that seen on the other walls in the house, would be much nicer. Even a soft green would work wonders.

I see they put the same color over the fireplace and in the bookcase niches. I'd paint over those to make them match the walls in that room. That buttery shade is pretty.

oh wait...I get it...you're building this house and this is the model. duh...I thought you were considering buying it for some reason. that explains the weird wall colors. Model home decorators always do weird wall stuff.

I do like the cherry floors and cherry cabs. keep in mind that cherry gets darker with age so they will be even darker in a few years. To offset that, I would choose a lighter color granite than that in the model home. Something with gold tones in it but not too light, not as creamy as something like new venetian gold. Something in between. But nothing as dark as what they opted to use. That would really lighten the kitchen up without changing the cabinets or the floors.

If you're building, why not get the same kitchen cabinets and floor that you know you liked in the former house?

I do think this kitchen is 'dark'. If you paint it very light, the wood will jump out darker by contrast.

Not sure I like the layout. DW opens around a corner and into an aisle. Ovens open into a doorway. Fridge is 'way back in the kitchen, far from dining area. No task lighting over the sink, bar, or island. Not sure I like the island -- depends on how you want to use the portion along the oven wall; island could be just 'in the way'. I see a lot of bending and stooping to get into under-counter cabinets.

Here we go....There isn't enough contrast between the cabinets and the floor. Cherry darkens down with time and the starting this dark will only get worse with time. This is not a well designed kitchen, I realize this is a model so make sure that you get a qualified designer to re-place the cabinets etc. Lose the brick, it is horrendous and lighten the floors. Another option is cream cabinets with a custom finish which combined with the cherry floors would make the kitchen really pop. Last idea is if you were to make the kitchen larger, have the island in a contrasting finish, but if it stays the same size that won't work.

I also think that the color choices are poor because of lack of contrast. Everything is a shade of red-brown. The brick, the floor, the cabinets, the wall. Even the granite has red specs. There is a fine line between coordinated colors and mush. This one is mush.

I think I'm the only one but I like the colors. (I have the same colors in mine). The difference is my orange is in the dining room and the yellowish color is in the kitchen and great room. This seems to be similar to the color schemes in most of the new homes in our area.

The house seems to be really open with lots of light so I don't think the kitchen would be too dark but I guess only you can really tell that.

One other thing, I don't like the open end on the island. Shelves would be nice but being able to see all of those little holes make it look cheap.

I completely agree that the paint color is all wrong--especially for a kitchen.

I'm going way out on a limb here---I think the cherry floors, cherry cabinets and granite counter are being way over used. Once limited to stately homes, they are now showing up in everything from the Mini-Mcmansions to the most modest of cookie cutters.

All that said, it really all a simple matter of personal taste.
