Why wouldn't you use the magnifier provided with Vista

I tried the magnifier one time and it was way to big and I didn't need it bad enough to bother with it.

NoSquint does more, it makes text or background larger or smaller, you can change the colors of the text on the read and the unread Google searches to more contrasting darker colors. You can get rid of the bright white pages that puts an enormous strain on my eyes. My Google page is a soft non shiny orange color and my email pages are a soft non shiny blue.

Sorry I just caught on to the Vista thing. V is for version of Firefox.

Thanks for the info, I just installed No squint and will see how I like it. My eyes take a beating too at times.

Nosquint doesn't do all of the page colors. I have to change some in advance appearance settings.

It's basic, but I use the keyboard. CTRL + to increase, CTRL - to decrease

I've been using nosquint for a while, what I like most about it is that once you adjust a page to your liking, it keeps that setting for that page. Next time you visit that page you do not have to adjust all over again.

Yes keeping the setting when we return to a page seems to be very nice. I always used the CTRL + and - but this seems so much better.

val55, I have the Nosquint icon on the tray you mentioned, but it is also listed on the options when you do a page RIGHT mouse click. You might want to see if yours is there.

It may sound like I am half blind, I am not, but I do have cataracts. I am just to the "frustration" point, not quite time to remove them. And I am a high risk patient, so I will zoom as long as I can. Even with good eyes, large fonts relieve eye strain. It is the glare that bothers me most and I find it hard to manipulate the brightness controls on the monitor.

have you gone to where nosquit is listed in your firefox list of add ons and clicked it and opened the options for it often times where to place the icon is listed there for you to check or not check you might just need to recheck to have it appear there.
I know adblock plus has those options also

Raven, After I reformatted my PC and reinstalled Firefox and my 3 add-ons, there was a small tool bar on the lower left hand corner where the status bar/ad on bar sits. One of the tools was related to personas. I Xed that out and I had not found a way to turn it on. I like using the right click better.

By the way I reformatted my computer because after one of the W updates I could not longer go to personalize and open my wallpaper folders. I had no idea which one it was and I wanted that option back. Before I went online I set the windows update to never because I wanted to confirm it was an update that caused the problem. It worked fine, then I re-installed Secunia, it updated my Pc and I lost the option again!!!!! I talked to a woman today who loves changing wallpaper as much as I do and so does her daughter, they were very unhappy with the problem. She uninstall her updates one at a time and checked each time until she found the problem update.

I want to add my thanks for making me aware of Nosquint. I'm giving it a try. In the past I've used the mouse to alter font size but my "seasoned" eyes appreciate the Nosquint option of changing the background color of a page.

I know what you are saying in reference to the cataracts. I had both eyes done and it's a whole new world. You will be astonished how bad your sight was after you have the operation. Good good luck with it.

Lotodig, it feels good doesn't it? Everyone in my world thinks I am a really techy person, simply because of what I do. They don't realize how complex this machine is, I know very little about it. BUT, I don't have to call my grandson over when I do have a problem. LOL
