malwarebytes is not an antivurus program it is an anti malware program and will find much much more than your antivirus will, there is a free version but you can also purchase it for a minmal fee which gives you lifetime protection and will enable it to do auto updates and scheduled scans. I would definitely get and use malwarebytes it is one of the top products we use on the support forums to clean the hardest infections. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop. * Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program. * At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. * If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. * Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan. * When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results. * Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.  The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM. There are free antivirus programs that are available that are just as good as or in some cases better than ones you pay big bucks for, the same companies that give those free also do sell a more full featured version so they are available for sale, I prefer to support companies that will go above and beyond and provide a free version for those who can not afford to pay for a product, they certainly do not have to do that but it is an extremely helpful thing to do, the more people we can keep from getting infected the better off we all are. I personally use AVAST and find it an excellent product. People often try to push the big name products especially when they are making a profit from selling them, installing them and maintaining them. The decision should be a good informed and researched one made by the pc user.

Hi, Jane Oh, I didn't know this error was happening when you start up the computer. I thought it was only when you tried to have Gmail's webmail open as the default email client that you got the message. I'm afraid I'm not familiar with any of Gmail's offline functions, so I can't help with that. And I'm not sure how the error message you're getting at computer start-up relates to your difficulty in having Gmail's webmail as the default email client. (I imagine that it would be possible for you to disable whatever offline Gmail feature you're using (is it the notifier or something else ?), or at least to set it so it doesn't start at computer start-up to see if that helps Gmail to open as your default client when you're online. AFAIK, the notifier is necessary for Gmail's webmail to be the default client. But perhaps the offline Gmail interferes with that ? I don't know. I'll keep looking into it.) You could try clearing your browser's cache and specifically Gmail's cookies and restart your browser to see if that clears things up when your computer restarts. Re: Outlook: since you were having issues with Outlook taking control as the default email client, my directions above were to Outlook itself. In Outlook's Tools > Options > Other there is a place to de-select Outlook as the default mail handler to help clear the way for Gmail to handle that.

Just browsing around tonight and noticed there were computer forums here. I use AOL thought I would tell you it can be done as I have tried this and it works fine. Read the link I posted and it will tell you what program to download. It's for gmail but when you install it you will have the option to pick AOL from the list. and that's it. Then when you are online and click somewhere to email a site it will bring up a filled in AOL mail form from aol.com. I am guessing though you have to make sure you leave aol.com logged in all the time and do not sign out. I was helping someone once make yahoo.com the default mail in firefox by using the malto code or what ever it is and stumbled upon this so thought I would try it and file it away for reference in case someone needed to know that. that is excellent news Faron! please please get rid of the registry cleaner so you will not be tempted to use it again, they do that scare tactic telling you there are so many errors to fix, the versions of windows from xp on up do not need registry cleaners at all, the very old versions did benefit a bit from them but not now, in fact we see more damaged computers from registry cleaners than you would belive. to do the adblockplus on your firefox to block the ads you can watch this little you tube just pay no attention to the version numbers he mentions. How to Install and Set Up AdBlock Plus once you put adblock plus on firefox it will ask you to restart firefox do that then you can either do the easylist as they tell you on the video or just go here and under easy list click add to adblock plus, I also add their easy privacy. then restart firefox one more time to make sure it all set and you are good to go. I love it. so there you have a few to look at. You can always add them and if you find you don't like them very easily go back and remove them.
