You could set up your GoDaddy account in Outlook or Outlook Express, then select that option in Internet Explorer.

I have no idea how to do that. If it isn't too time consuming could you give me the steps. If it's too big a job I'll keep searching around for the steps. It's amazing how confusing computers can be in spite of all that I have learned!

Google is your best friend! I used the words "set up GoDaddy in Outlook Express" and got a direct link to GoDaddy support.
In summation, you open your email client (Outlook or Outlook Express). In Outlook Express, click on Tools, then Accounts and you will get a dialog box. Click Add----> Mail and the mail wizard (called Internet Connection Wizard) will come up. Fill in the blanks with the following information:
Username
Your full email address.
Password
Your email account password.
Incoming Mail Server
Use pop.secureserver.net for your incoming mail server.
Outgoing Mail Server
Use smtpout.secureserver.net for your outgoing mail server.
Incoming Port: 110

Outgoing Port: 25

I am providing the link to the instructions. I don't use GoDaddy, but was able to find this information quite easily.

I would bet the steps would be very similar if you choose to use Thunderbird as your email client rather than outlook or outlook express. I use and really like Thunderbird.

Thanks guys! Right now I'm trying to fix (ha ha, me fix!!) my computer. Many strange things happening the worst of which is I cannot get updates from my free AVG. I even removed the program and installed it again, but no luck.

It also appears the last update from AVG was 6 weeks ago even though it was set to do daily updates. (I know, I should be checking every day myself.)

Several other funny things are happening but my computer guru isn't home.

I've heard alot about the April l worm. Whatever the cause I've got problems.

Of course, I'd love any suggestions from you experts!!

What version of AVG are you using? There are several AVG threads here concerning the upgrade to version 8 or 8.5. I'm including a link to great thread with the link to download version 8.5.

you should try to access some known security sites that are blocked by conficker to see if you can get through to them that will give you an indication if you are infected.
Try going to McAfee.com or Trendmicro.com and try going to windows update site.

I would run malwarebytes if you have it if not let us know we will give you the link and instructions or do a search on here for malwarebytes

As the morning wore on my computer was acting worse and worse, not letting me online 90% of the time. I took my computer into the man who built it for me 5 years ago. He builds computers for one department at Stanford University so believe he is a bright guy.

After having my computer for 6 hours he felt he got rid of the virus he found. It was not the April 1 worm.

He does not believe the free anti-virus programs are nearly as good as Symantec or the one he installed from Microsoft. I certainly don't mind paying $50 a year to be free of viruses and I know the problem once again was my fault, not keeping my eyes open.

He installed Windows Live One Care.

Hard to believe,or maybe not, but an hour after I brought this baby home, I got "need to close" (or whatever it says) messages from both Mozilla and IE. I am hoping I don't have yet another virus or whatever. I ran Windows Live One Care right away and it didn't show anything. My computer guy is going out of town tomorrow for a week so I've got my fingers crossed this little snafu won't re-appear.

I do thank you guys for your advice as always.

malwarebytes is not an antivurus program it is an anti malware program and will find much much more than your antivirus will, there is a free version but you can also purchase it for a minmal fee which gives you lifetime protection and will enable it to do auto updates and scheduled scans.

I would definitely get and use malwarebytes it is one of the top products we use on the support forums to clean the hardest infections.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
* Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
* At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
* If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
* Once the program has loaded, select Perform full scan, then click Scan.
* When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
* Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
 The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

There are free antivirus programs that are available that are just as good as or in some cases better than ones you pay big bucks for, the same companies that give those free also do sell a more full featured version so they are available for sale, I prefer to support companies that will go above and beyond and provide a free version for those who can not afford to pay for a product, they certainly do not have to do that but it is an extremely helpful thing to do, the more people we can keep from getting infected the better off we all are. I personally use AVAST and find it an excellent product. People often try to push the big name products especially when they are making a profit from selling them, installing them and maintaining them. The decision should be a good informed and researched one made by the pc user.

Thank you for the detailed instructions on how to install and use Malwarebytes. Too tired to do it tonight and work tomorrow so I'll tackle this on Saturday. I do have Spybot Search & Destroy and ran it tonight. I was kicked off IE and Firefox once or twice tonight, getting an error message. Once I clicked on "debug" and that's when I was able to stay on. This is so confusing to me; wish it wasn't because I love learning about this beloved (most of the time) computer.

I have run Malwarebytes 3 times now and this morning it showed zero files infected.

IE and Mozilla continue to shut down more often than not.

try going to the event viewer and looking through the categories there for red flags if you find some right click on the item and get the additional info including the code number.

Start> control panel> administrative tools> event viewer
