Kenmore Pro Range -- what do you think of the large oval burner?

We're looking for a 30" dual fuel range, and considering the Kenmore Pro. One of my hesitations is the burger configuration -- it comes with a low power simmer burner, and a high power burner (both sound good) and then a large oval burner on the left. The large burner can be lit in full, in which case it would be great with a griddle, or only part of it can be lit. Given that we'll be buying the 30" stove, I expect that we'd use the "partial" oval burner a lot on a day to day basis

If you have this range ... what do you think of the large oval burner? Do you use it with regular pans (not just a griddle)? Does it work well? How large a pan is required if you want to use the back 2/3 of the burner? It looks like it would require something larger than my 12" stock pot, but I can't actually test it out.
