If they did that they would have a TON of windows updates to do plus likely all 3 service packs to deal with. Any of those items you listed try doing a google search for them and you will quickly find out what they belong to, or use a program like free start up lite by the makers of malwarebytes. StartUpLite avg= your antivirus is AVG? you do not want to stop that for sure. you can use a process library to find what each one is and does, what ever you do, DO NOT use a registry cleaner! if this is a dell then the dsca is a dell file C:\Program Files\Dell Support Center\gs_agent\custom\dsca.exe DSCA is Dell's remote-support app. If you're relying on Dell's remote-desktop support, do not delete it. but it does not need to be in your start up list. msseces.exe (Microsoft Security Essentials) are you using both AVG and Microsoft Security Essentials on your pc for Antivirus? if so you need to fully remove one of them you should only run one full time AV at a time that will cause conflicts. smax4pnp.exe (SoundMax controls) you can look up the rest of them there at the pcpitstop library if you want. another good free program that can help you with this kind of stuff is winpatrol WinPatrol

(near the top of the list) If there you can also right click on it and click Pin to Taskbar in the pop up menu If it is not there click the folder on your bottom task bar near the Start button to bring up Windows Explorer click the plus sign beside the C: drive on the left side in the menu dropped down below click the plus sign beside Program Files click on Internet Explorer to highlight it now look on the right side and right click on iexplore and in the pop up menu click to pin to Taskbar. Hi everyone, This is very informative and from what I've read, it said nothing about removing IE7 and it makes sense to me that if you would remove IE7 and then put in IE8 and you didn't like it you wouldn't be able to go back to IE7 because you removed it. Hi Owbist, Do you have an external drive or second internal drive to which you create backups of your computer? If so the answer is quite simple methinks. Backup the whole computer. Install IE8 and test it. If it fails miserably, which it probably will not, then you can restore the backup and carry on as you were. Without stepping on anyone's toes, could I join the needing help with this issue? If this should be a separate thread, please tell me... Approx 2 months, same problem with IE9. I know there had been an update a few days before I noticed the problem but thought I'd used the browser for same tasks for a few days after that. For the last few (8 or more) weeks, I have to type my username into Ebay sign in when I didn't before, and I can't leave or view feedback there with IE9 any longer. Shop, buy, pay - all fine. My bank, all else has been OK except GW....I can't log into GW either and Tamara hasn't been able to assist. I'm having to change browsers and use Firefox for the forums, and to leave feedback on Ebay...just those two places. Workable but annoying. Windows 7. I didn't intentionally change any settings or do anything where I could have unintentionally changed them that I'm aware of, and I do use CCleaner regularly, no big cookie stashes. I've moved Ebay cookies and GW cookies to the delete side of the CCleaner options, moved them back to the 'saves'...no difference.
