If you are in an area where other wireless networks are active, it's possible that one or more of them are strong enough to interfere with your ability to connect to your own network, especially if you are using the same channel. I use a program called inSSIDer and find it very useful to see whats going on. There are as many as 12 networks operating in my area and they are constantly switching channels it seems. With inSSIDer, I can see which channels they're using and adjust my channel if needed. It's free and has helped me on more than one occasion. Here is a link that might be useful: inSSIDer

I'm running with administrator rights, but when I change one to "on" and apply, it comes back up with 'off". Not sure where to go to fix this one. Since you're daughter can connect to other networks, it doesn't appear to be a hardware problem with her laptop. And since hubby's laptop works, it doesn't appear to be a problem with the router (or wireless access point). She needs to be using the correct SSID and password. Remember that passwords are case sensitive. PASSWORD is not the same as password. I might also suggest temporarily disabling any security on the router and seeing if she can connect. If so, re-enable the security and go from there.
