Anyone have both GE Profile and GE Monogram in Stainless?

Hello all,

I had FINALLY decided on a GE Profile french door fridge and a GE Monogram wall/micro combination, when I realized they are not the same line, and there might be a difference in the stainless color or finish.

I called GE, and they said there is a difference.

The fridge will not be right beside the wall oven, but it will be reasonably close - maybe 6' away?

Has anyone mixed the Profile and Monogram appliances in stainless, and if so, can you tell the difference on the finish? Is it an appreciable difference?

I am about to get a GE Profile frig, and also have a DCS stainless range, as well as a (name escapes me at the moment!) wall oven & warming drawer. I don't see a noticeable difference in the last two and, although there may be a difference between frig & the others (I don't know yet), I can't seem to get upset about it.

Thanks. I am not all that worried about it, but I wanted to see if there was anyone who already had both in place so I could get some feedback.

Actually, it wasn't until the person I called at GE made it sound like there was a noticeable and appreciable difference that I became concerned!

My cooktop is mostly black with a stainless rim, and my dishwasher is ss, but none of those things are close together, or close to the wall oven or fridge, so I was not that worried.

I'll probably still go with both the Profile and the Monogram.

There's a whole thread about doing this! With elaborate how-to instructions and photos. I'm considering the same thing. The European-style Monogram door is reasonably compatible appearance-wise with the Cafe line (though the handle is thinner), and the whole door can be swapped onto the substantially less expensive Profile Advantium, and is amazingly inexpensive as a part (the complete door assembly can be had for well under $100). The "pro-style" door protrudes more from the body of the oven than the other two styles, though the handle is nicer and even more like the Cafe handle. Don't know if the handles are interchangable if you keep the doors, or for that matter if a handle from a 30"w electric Cafe wall oven will fit on an Advantium door. We have the GE 30" Profile, with the ss frame. Purchased in summer 2008. At the time, the specs were exactly the same between the profile and the monogram, and the profile was a few hundred less (via the induction site). We did think the stainless/mirrored monogram looked really cool, but the black controls on it were funny looking, so decided to stick to all black. Got the framed version because we were worried about cracking an exposed glass corner without it. Performance is excellent. The large burder is quite large and very powerful. Overall, great control, great power and a good price. Cleaning up is easy and no noticeable scratches or other issues after 9 months. Only small quibbles--it does hum (not enough to bother us, but usually it is noticeable), more so with some cookware than others. Wish the larger burner were centered so as to provide better capture of smoke when stir-frying (we have it in a peninsula). Clearance requirements underneath are high--meant we used pullout shelves instead of more efficient drawers under it. On balance, happy and would recommend.

withoutanh... If the date of your first service call to complain was within warranty, they have to continue to work on that issue until resolved, even past that warranty period. It's their fault the problem continued because their attempts and explanations did not resolve the problem. I think you should ask to speak to a supervisor at the store, and at GE customer service. Report the problem to the Better Business Bureau and renew your comments that it was defective upon delivery and their failure to cure the problem when reported is the only reason the problem continues to be reported after the warranty. So many companies try to shirk their legal responsibilities with this type of behavior and you shouldn't give up as they hope you do. Posting seems the only way to get satisfaction but that shouldn't be the only option. Try, try again! You are making me reconsider a choice of GE appliances, so thanks for posting.

A couple of other differences yhat dont seem appparent monogram appliances have a 2 yr warranty Cafe and Profile have a 1 yr warranty Monogram is supposento ise heavier materials to perform more like a professional appliance Heres how i compare them like buying a car ypu can by a Ford Escape, but3 levels of models S Model = Profile cheaper price SEL= Cafe Series middle price Titanium = Monogram most expensive you can say or be told that they all have the build and the options are different However, if you drive a S model and a Titanium for awhile youll notice the difference you can try and make a SEL model into a Titanium by adding options, but it will still not be the same as the Titanium IMHO the high end model is built better overall i have a Monogram single built in oven and thus far ver pleased with it

contacted GE recently to inquire about finishes on Cafe/Profile and Cafe/Monogram as we are considering mixing/matching Cafe range with Profile or Monogram hood.
Both times they said that GE uses the same SS product throughout all their lines and that all would match.
