best internet sites for toilets and faucets

We are starting our masterbath project! Would love to hear your favorite sites for Toto and Grohe. The plumbing supply houses are just too much for us.

I used plumbtile.com also known as International Bath and Tile. Prices were great, no tax, free delivery (except for big stuff like toilets) and salespeople are knowledgeable. People also like faucet direct.

Thank you so much. Any experience with Homeclick (anyone). They seem to have the best prices on Toto.

I am in middle of an entire house down to the studs reno. I spent a lot of time on http://www.google.com/prdhp?hl=en&tab=wf doing research on prices. I went with the best prices, sometimes could not find any feedback and sat anxious until things arrived. In the end, I furnished a 2.5 bath, 2 sink kitchen for less than half of the local plumbing supply 'discounted' prices and ended up with higher end items. Here are the best places I've found: dealyard.com - if you can find what you want, the prices are just plain unbelievable on high end products, in a few cases, I paid 10% of list for discontinued styles of high end European items. we ordered seven faucets, one shower set, one shower/bath set, one roman bath set from here all arrived in perfect condition. was in three separate boxes, fed ex, the company only had signature required on one of the three boxes, so two boxes were left outside our home one day, and the third box needed signature - all three should have needed signature - weird glitch. Would suggest calling the company after placing order to make sure they require signature - I didn't do this. faucetdirect.com - ordered jacuzzi air tub and kohler cast iron bath tub. prices were the best for these items. they were shipped separately. it was snowing the day the kohler arrived and the ups driver said that dropping the tub to the curb was not included in the delivery, so the contractor plus plumber actually lifted it themselves. customer service said it was not their fault, UPS said it was not their fault, either way, I did pay for curbside delivery and did not get it, I would suggest when ordering large items like this to talk to the company ahead of time, which I did not do. homeproductstogo.com - ordered three toto toilets. no problems. really nice local delivery company was used who insisted on helping us take the items into our home - I did not pay for white glove service, and got it anyway overstock.com - kitchen sinks. no problems. I recently ordered a CD from comedienne Jessica Kirson and finally notified her four weeks after my order that I had received nothing. She wrote back herself saying that she had mailed the CD to me and asked if sending a replacement would be satisfactory. I told her it would and that she probably has a new fan somewhere in Los Angeles, since the post office never delivered the package to me. I'll let you know if I ever actually receive the CD, but if you get a chance to see her, she's hilarious. I had also ordered some rug cleaner from a web site recommended by Diana when I wanted to get the smell of dog urine out of the carpet in my bedroom, and I initially ordered two bottles. However, they only sent me one bottle, and so I had to call to complain, and the woman in Shreveport said, "Oh, lawdy mercy, I've just hired some temporary help, and they are just not working out!" and promised to send me the second bottle. Two weeks later I still had not received the replacement, and so I sent her an email, and within a week I received the second bottle. I felt I got decent service from her, and I could sympathize with her plight as a small business owner. I do get peeved if I do not receive an order acknowledgment, but I would not expect to get a discount that was offered after I had purchased something. For me, it is not worth the bother and not really valid. However, if someone lies to me, I will cut them no slack. Fortunately, I am not going through menopause and do not require that product. Best pull-down/pull-out faucets?

I just made my choice of faucets. I am going to go with the Grohe pull down for 2 reasons: Pull down vs pull out: since I purchased this house recently, the pull-out faucet has constantly loosened and water has been leaking all over the sink under-cabinet! But as I had planned on doing a complete remodel (watch out cabinets, took me 2 hrs with a good hammer and built-in frustration to gut everything out!) On top of that, the pull-out ball front of the faucet kept hitting my tall pans and frustrating me even more! And forget trying to clean the sink all the way around! So a pull-down was an easy decision (got to be a nice improvement to the old pull-out!) 2. I chose Grohe after reading the hundreds of blogs on this incredible website and because Grohe is a german company who has been making incredibly strong and dependable faucets for so long! Check out their groheamerica website (http://www.groheamerica.com/t/25_4021.html) one of these days, you will be impressed with the number of medals they have won! Now I have to decide which Grohe: Ladylux or Bridgeford. Irawoods.com has them starting at $312 with free shipping and taxes and I know I am going to find it even cheaper on other internet sites.

This is a subject that comes up about once a month and there are as many answers as thete are members because we all have had different experiences and have our favorites for different reasons. As the above poster says, though, the one that seems to come up the most often as a BAD experience is Ira Woods. I read and respond to some 30 forums and discussion groups daily (Im retired and disabled and have little life..LOL) and I see more bad about Ira Woods than any one else but fortunately not from my own experience because I've managed to avoid them. As to pricing most online sites offer a price match or guarantee and some sort of free or discounted freight so price ceases to become as much of an issue as does service. "debbie 2008" got a good price but bad service from Woods and thus her problem. So regardless of who you settle on based on our comments here, call the vendor instead of just ordering online, ask them to match or beat the best price you have found in your online search and judge their attitude by how your phone experience goes. Ask questions, see how you are treated. This should go a long way towards giving you a comfort level and some trust that none of us here can replace. As to my preference, Natonal Builder Supply.

Have used Homeclick many times with no problems. Watch for Manager's specials on toto toilets, I got an ames cyclone rinse with seat and sanigloss couple months back for $395 and free shipping ( less than 1/2 for what retailers in my area charge).

I bought a Grohe valve and shower trim on eBay for a much lower price than the online stores, not to even mention showroom prices. If you've seen what you like in a showroom it's easy then to search. Just find a buyer with a solid reputation. Amazon also sells Grohe for decent prices and they have a great return policy.

I purchased bathroom fixtures from Home Perfect and Faucet Depot. I believe my Toto toilet and sink came from Home Perfect, while my Moen faucet came from Faucet Depot.

loved using faucet direct. They were super-friendly and the service was impeccable, even on returns. Don't forget that they (and I'm sure a lot of the other sites) price-match plus 10% of the difference, so make sure to mark down the best prices of each product from each site, then submit to the one you go with.

We used Faucet Direct for last year's bathroom renovation and our current one. They were great and matched other sites prices. I did order a toilet that took weeks to arrive...and then was cancelled because it wasn't available anymore (Toto Vespin). They replaced it with another Toto toilet at their cost (or so they told me...I never checked). But they were very pleasant and delivery was quick.

Did you unpack while the driver was there(was told I need to unpack a bathtub at del)Any other words of wisdom?

I didn't inspect all mine @ delivery (5 bath, kitchen, laundry, bar) since I was @ work, so I just had my wife write "not inspected" by her signature. Most everything's in the original packaging, so any missing parts would be the manufacturer's fault and they're usually pretty good about sending you missing pieces.

I had someone else accept delivery for me as well, so I couldn't inspect at the time of delivery. Thankfully everything was there and undamaged.

"Not inspected" by signature sounds like a prudent approach to me. Thanks for good imput everyone. I placed an order for 2 toilets today. Fingers crossed.
