Bookmarks and Scrapbook are different. I can back up Bookmarks easily following the path I gave in my first post. There is a file for Bookmarks inside the next stop after Profiles, which is v20fqq3t.default. I forgot to mention that last one. There is also a folder for Scrapbook inside v20fqq3t.default, but that folder contains a number of files, including "Backup" and several RDF files that appear to be individual backups but are just a meaningless list of figures when I click them, as well as a folder for "Data." "Backup" itself is also full of lines like the following: RDF:Description RDF:about="urn:scrapbook:item20060912103442" NS8:id="20060912103442" NS8:type="" NS8:title="Scappy String Quilt Instructions" NS8:chars="UTF-8" NS8:comment="" NS8:icon="" NS8:source="http://home.pmt.org/~awalter/string.html"/ So I don't see how saving Backup would give me something to use in the event of a crash. Groan. Come to think of it, Roxio appears to insist on individual files rather than folders when I want to burn a disk, so maybe I'll have to export everything to the desktop and then laboriously transfer it to Roxio as a "project" and burn that. What gets me is that previously--maybe a long time ago--there was just one folder that I could transfer to a zip disk and from it open up FF again with all the scrapbook entries. Somewhere along the line that changed. I do find Scrapbook very useful because any Web page saved there is always there, along with its clickable links, even if the original page has been taken down.

formerly known as foxmarks, I use it also and love it plus you can sync all your computers using it and keep all your bookmarks the same on all computers that you use the xmarks on, so adding a new bookmark to one pc will put that bookmark on any others you have using that xmarks account. It can also store your profile info.

absolutely number one is xmarks so I never lose my favorites and can access them from any computer, plus moving to a new computer all I have to do is install xmarks on the new one and hit sync and voila all my favorites and stuff are all automatically on the new one, and as a benefit when going to a new pc you can also have it sync all your Firefox settings too! major time savings. Adblock plus with easylist man I have so many I couldn't do with out. I need to go to my pc to look at the list. Go to Google add bookmark here 2 colorful tabs colt, love it copy as html link, essential context search forecast fox make link status-4-evar statusbar date text link WOT browser protect well that's some of them on my tablets linky mobile which turns any text link into a clickable link.

Is the profile you found in the correct place ? If so, just use the Profile Manager as I suggested above - that's what it's for. You can copy and paste files in, and it might work, but historically that has led to some problems in Firefox. I have done it though. If you use the Profile Manager, you can be sure Firefox "knows" about a different profile. Are you having trouble with that ? (Btw, even if the profile is in an atypical place it will still be loaded by FF and run fine. I actually put my profiles in a different place that I like to keep them.) I don't quite understand your reply to me, "I took it to finding Firefox profiles if it can't be accessed through Firefox." If this clarifies any, you can't run the Profile Manager while Firefox is running. You have to close FF, start the Profile Manager as is explained in the either of the articles, then choose a different profile as the default. It's pretty easy actually.
