HELP - Spill Runs Between Glass on Miele Oven Door
Comments (37)babj's first post is correct. It is a simple task to remove the front glass panel. I've done it, single-handedly, at least 3 times over the last 13 years. On my oven, it helps to grip the door with one hand and gently squeeze the inner and outer panels together to take the 'load' off the 2 little 'locks' on the top of the door, between the pin and the 'latch.' The 'locks' are so small (1/8" x 1/8") you wouldn't think they are what holds the glass panel in place, For me, the procedure is: 0) Put a 'beach' towel on the counter so I have some place soft to put the glass panel. 1) Open the door fully. 2) Grip the door with my right hand left of the center of the door, squeezing slightly. 3) Press the left lock in with a small screwdriver using my left hand. 4) Grip the door with my left hand right of the center of the door, squeezing slightly. 5) Press the right lock in with a small screwdriver using my right hand. The panel is now free of the door so pay attention and don't drop it. 6) Use both hands to ease the panel out. 7) I don't remember if the door wants to close by itself without the weight of the panel so be aware and don't let it slam shut. Reinstalling the panel is even easier: 1) Shut the door. 2) Put the panel in place, holding it out a small distance at the top so you can guide it into the 2 clips on the bottom of the door. 3) Gently close the panel to the door and press slightly so the locks click....See MoreHELP!! Final decisions on appliances before purchasing
Comments (0)We are down to our final choices before making choices. With budgets in mind we picked what we thought would be great products and hopefully low maintance- no issues 30 inch double oven - torn between 2 Thermador- love this one-- Masterpiece SS MED302ES $3199 I hear through posts people like Miele- so we would have to go look at this. But what i like about Thermador I'm not sure Miele offers- Rolling Rack, both ovens self cleaning, fairly big inside (i think miele might be smaller inside?( Model H 4890 BP2 Masterchef and also closer to $5000 Refridgerator - Amana French Door Model AF12538AES 36 inch $2159 ice and water on door- stainless steel - 36 inches deep- we would recess into closet Microwave- Sharp- dont have a model number- need a built in -- Rangetop- 36 inch Wolf $3000 with 6 burners open burners (any others we should consider?) I want EASY CLEAN UP!! Dishwasher- torn b/w 2 Miele - Optima-- Cabinet ready approx $1500-- opinions welcome! vs Kitchen Aid Architect II KUDT03FT--- $1000 T series Looking for a quiet dishwasher that cleans well and doesnt require a lot of energy spent worrying about "where" things MUST go to get clean. I like throwing silverwear in to basket (not placing on a rack) THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!...See MoreList your appliances here...
Comments (146)Amana French Door Bottom Freezer Whirlpool Quiet Partner IV Built in KitchAid Oven Micro, both Convection (never use that feature) Jenn- Air electric Cooktop I love this blog. I am getting ready to build a new home and need new appliances. I will not buy any of the brands I have now since they are Whirlpool. I posted a long blog about my Combo and DW related to Whirlpool. In a nutshell: Micro was made in 2002 and Magnatron has shot craps 3 TIMES. 1st time after only 1.5 years. Last time I had to pay $700 to fix it. Asked WP for reimbursement of at least parts cost-told too bad so sad. DW control panel went out after only 4 mos (just got it in April '08 at NE Furniture Mart). We wanted a new unit since this is a major thing to go out. Attitude of retailer and WP was the same- tough. We only use the DW twice a week. It is not that quiet either. Love my Amana. Too bad it is WP also. It holds everything and stuff is easy to find. Black glass top Jenn-Air is impossible to keep clean. STREAKY!!! Have to clean and clean and clean. Also, if anything splatters on it that is high in sugar THE GLASS MELTS. It leaves a big crater. Dials are placed in front corners at an angle and big pans can touch and melt them. Love the down draft fan. Very powerful. Thanks to all who listed their brands here. I got a great list to look into for the new place....See MoreMiele Double Ovens-Need Help
Comments (8)I bought my Miele double ovens as an end of year floor model in Dec. 2005. They have the Perfect Clean finish. They were stored at the store where they were purchased and installed almost a year later. Warranty did not take effect until install. I saved over 2K on the older model . My timer does do 90 minutes and I use it all the time. I have 2 timers and they both go to 90. I have had no issues with the ovens except the thermo device malfunctioned due to continued 500 degree heating for my iron pot bread baking. It was under warranty and they replaced the tiny piece in both ovens even though only the one had gone out. I agreed with this plan and have had no more problems and I have continued the very high heat for hours of baking. I usually do 3 batches of 2 pots , so 6 loaves and this equals 1 hr preheat, baking for 35 min of each batch and then allowing reheat of pots between each bake for a number of hours continuous high heat. I did renew the extended warranty when the original 5 yrs expired. It made sense as the price was less than one service call plus the electronic part. I think it is a good idea to have the warranty on such a high ticket item. I rarely use the Master Chef or Auto settings but when I have they have been just fine. I also keep the ovens clean after each use and have found this to be the most efficient way to maintain the surfaces. They look almost as good as they did when purchased. Congrats on getting your Miele products. Hope we will get to see the cooking results in pictures. c...See Moremomotom
