Bee, I'm pretty sure that the 2 at the end means that it is the double oven. So if the floor model is a double, it is H4892BP2 like what you see in the booklet. H4892BP would be the single oven of the same generation.

We have the H4890BP2 and haven't had any issues during 5 years with it. There are some minor things about the controller that I find annoying. The biggest is that the timer is set in minutes and seconds with a maximum time of 59 minutes 59 seconds. Given that it takes some seconds to set it, I'm never likely to care about setting it to the second and there sure are times that I'd like to set it to more than an hour.

No issues here. Would definitely buy again, so if you're getting a good deal, even better, as Miele's prices are generally fixed.

As for the timer, it's a bit of a flaw, but you can enter up to 99 min, which exceeds timing for most items. Things like a turkey that require more time can be cooked with either an auto roast function, and the probe, or using a MasterChef program. That way, manual timer set-up is not needed.

The other thing I wish it had are telescopic racks. At that price, I mean, why not??

Perhaps they changed it in a later model, but mine only allows setting up to 59 minutes 59 seconds. It won't take 99 minutes - I've tried. I don't particularly like their selection of temperature for auto roast and Master Chef programs so I rarely use them. Also, there are things like a pot roast that I want a long low temperature for. I end up timing them with another timer so it isn't a big deal but a minor annoyance when the thing costs so much and it would have been easy to do it better.

But other than that, I'm generally happy with its temperature control and evenness of cooking.

We usually grill on the gas grill outside so I don't have much experience with the broiler.

The timers don't go beyond 59 minutes. However, when you want to cook something for over an hour just press delay start and set the duration. Or, you can set start and end time.

Agree, it's counter intuitive. The other downside is that to change i.e. raise/lower a temperature or mode setting while the oven is running it needs to be turned off and on again.

I don't have the self-clean (BP) and I have an older model so no issues at all. I've been super happy with this oven. The temp differential is 10 degrees only on some settings so I just set it 10 degrees higher. I posted extensively on the oven use in Appliances -- some research might turn those up.

Expect everyone would agree there's a learning curve with the combination cooking modes. It takes some time to figure out which ones to use for which recipes. The drawback is that, while the Miele manual explains how the modes work and where the heat sources come from, they make no sense of it in terms of applying that to cooking.

There are some recipes on their website that are geared towards their modes and perhaps those might help. I don't use the Masterchef settings at all but that's one way to avoid the investment in figuring it out. Before I bought the oven, I just decided there were enough benefits in terms of what it did to take the time to figure it out. Compared to the new car, it's a no-brainer.

I bought my Miele double ovens as an end of year floor model in Dec. 2005. They have the Perfect Clean finish. They were stored at the store where they were purchased and installed almost a year later. Warranty did not take effect until install. I saved over 2K on the older model .

My timer does do 90 minutes and I use it all the time. I have 2 timers and they both go to 90.

I have had no issues with the ovens except the thermo device malfunctioned due to continued 500 degree heating for my iron pot bread baking. It was under warranty and they replaced the tiny piece in both ovens even though only the one had gone out. I agreed with this plan and have had no more problems and I have continued the very high heat for hours of baking. I usually do 3 batches of 2 pots , so 6 loaves and this equals 1 hr preheat, baking for 35 min of each batch and then allowing reheat of pots between each bake for a number of hours continuous high heat.

I did renew the extended warranty when the original 5 yrs expired. It made sense as the price was less than one service call plus the electronic part. I think it is a good idea to have the warranty on such a high ticket item.

I rarely use the Master Chef or Auto settings but when I have they have been just fine. I also keep the ovens clean after each use and have found this to be the most efficient way to maintain the surfaces. They look almost as good as they did when purchased.

On the H4792BP model, you can set the timer to 99 min. I did my turkey this way. But I did find it odd at first that it would not let you set hours on the timer.
