Question on making handbags
Comments (3)Hope this isn't too late for you, but I have that pattern and like most handbag patterns, the needlepoint canvas they are talking about is the plastic kind with holes in it. You can get it at craft stores, Joanns, Hobby Lobby, Walmart, most any place they sell craft items. You cut a piece of the plastic canvas to make a bottom for your bag so it will hold its shape better, sit straight, and make it easier to see what is in there. I make a fabric sleeve to match the lining, slip the plastic canvas in it and lay in bottom of purse after it is completely made. Then if you make another one, just take the plastic out and reuse in your new purse. Hope this makes sense. Murphy...See MoreNewspaper pocketbook
Comments (2)ya know...in searching for this, I realize that the newspaper pocketbook was another "Trash To Treasure" site. The link to that site was listed in a post HERE...(if youre following me, youre doing better than I am...LOL).. It was obviously a link to a daily newspaper that had a section in it about how to make a pocketbook from Newspaper.. lordy, I gotta keep these things straight.. Thanks for the book purse site...I sent it to my daughter who makes pocketbooks...she will LOVE that!...See Moreanother purse question
Comments (20)Bach in the 1930s and 1940s, men carried "pocketbooks". These were small, deep purses with a hinge/snap closure (coin purse). Typical contents were change, keys, and a little paper money. These purses could be folded in half and fit into jeans or overall pockets. These were popular with farmers. The other pocket (jeans) held a pocket knife. In the 1930s, farmers had no need to carry identification or driver's license on a daily basis. These items were included only when a man dressed for traveling away from home....See MoreHandbag afficionados: can you help with ID?
Comments (75)You are too funny. Here in our area I have not seen those under 18 carrying VB. It is hugely popular with the college crowd here though. I also have not seen those 65 and up carrying VB. I'll admit I haven't really looked, but it sure hasn't been something I've noticed. I know alot of the moms (which is probably the 25-40ish age group) like VB and have the diaper bags. Her cross body bags are popular here. And in our nearby touristy area, there is a VB outlet. I've also noticed alot of VB (discounted) at a local Steinmart. I bought a friend a VB bag for Christmas - and she is 57, although looks much younger but the VB bag looks good on her. I like some of the black with bright prints because I wear alot of black and brights, but I also wear a good many prints/patterns, so the bags often clash with my clothing. I like the VB laptop bags too....See Morecentralcacyclist
