What white paint for a vanity in a carrara bathroom?

So our amazing cabinetmaker came over and took our measurements and in 4 weeks my dream vanity will be built.

I have one last problem to solve. If the bathroom will be mostly honed carrara (tiles on shower walls and bathroom floors with an accent tile on the shower floor)what shade of white should I paint the vanity? The walls will have wainscotting also so I guess that gets painted the same color, right? I don't want to paint it any other color but white because this is going to be my dream, spa bathroom.

I think you need to look at a sample of your tile, and some paint chips, in your bathroom's lighting. I have Carrara in my kitchen and I can tell you that you really need to choose the white based on your particular slab or tile lot... you'll probably want a cool white, not a creamy one, if it's a typical carrara with grey veining and a cool cast.

I also wanted to comment on your plans. Have you finalized any of those things you have "?" on? It looks like it's going to be gorgeous... but I had these thoughts:
1) Don't have the shower door swing that way if the bathroom door is hinged on the shower side. If those doors happen to be open at the same time and collide, you'll shatter the shower door (assuming it's frameless glass.)
2) Can you do a pocket door for the entry? My master bath door is in the middle of the wall, like yours. It is hinged on the right, and opens almost 180 degrees, like yours would if you hung it that way. It's "OK" but I really wish I'd done a pocket door instead.

My challenge is that I don't have the tile yet and the cabinet will be painted at the woodworker's studio more than an hour away. I guess when I get the tile I will have to just do a bunch of samples. The bathroom is down to the studs now so I don't know what the lighting will be like when it all gets rewired and turned on.

Thank you so much for your other observations. We handled the door swing early on but I never changed my copy of the sketch that I have scanned. You have an excellent eye for detail!!!

I had the exact same problem. I picked out the vanity I wanted but did not think about the fact that it wasn't made to sit flush against the wall. I spent a month looking for something else, but in the end we decided to go with something shorter and have it not be against the wall. But we were going from 72" to 60" which is probably not workable in your mom's situation. I did find a lot of vanities that did have flat sides and could work in a corner, if you are willing to have the countertop fabricated. They just need to not have any trim detail on the top or bottom like the one you picked out does. I would just look at the ones without the pre-made tops. Because the pre-made top will still leave you with a slight gap because of the countertop overhang. This is an example: Avanity Modero which is sold everywhere, not just at Lowe's. The cabinet we ended up buying is an Avanity Madison which won't work for you, but I assume it is of similar quality. We are pretty happy with it. The drawers and doors have soft close but I do feel like the glides in my Ikea kitchen drawers are better quality. It is very pretty and I wanted a stained wood so I am really happy with our choice. If I had been willing to go with a painted finish, I think we might have stuck with the 72" Modero.

I like a soft gray grout with cararra especially on the floor where a white grout gets grubby no matter how clean you are so that should work . I think Mountainscape is a pretty color but IMO an actual color might be nice with all the cararra to brige the whites

I like simple 12 x24 porceliain tile for floors and shower walls in small bathrooms for sure . Could you possibly get more doors in that space ? I so dislike toilet rooms inside bathrooms they are not functional at all and in your case really a bad plan.I sure hope this is not a J&J bathroom for guests. IMo anyone who uses the toilet while I am in the bathroom will never do it agin so to me the European idea of a completely separate toilet space is the rigt way to do this. Sorry off on a tangent so tile keep it simple ans eliminate as many grout lines as possible so in your case a gray tile with matching grout will have anice look with the counter and a clean look for the bathroom

I have BM Dove white in master. It goes just a little grey.

I would definitely recommend looking at numerous white swatches with a sample of your tile. When I selected the white for my bathroom walls (with white Daltile Navelli Carrera Star tile and white vanity and carrera marble top), I brought home every single white sample I could find and then sorted through them until I found one that seemed just right. I wanted a white that was not significantly whiter than the tile. In the end, I selected Ralph Lauren Grand. It is just slightly whiter than my tile and much whiter than my marble vanity top. It is definitely a cool white with very slight gray undertones.

Also, your vanity does not have to be the same color as the walls. My vanity is a different white than my walls and floor tile and I still love the look. Either way works just fine, you just have to decide what look you want.

I'd post this over on the kitchen forum. There are a ton of white cabinet & carrera marble kitchens there so I'm sure someone could give you some advice about some whites that work well with carrera.

It's going to be an amazing bathroom!
