Comments (7)Using a credit card is by far the safest way to pay online from any website. Going through PayPal is even more secure, many sites now use PayPal. Avoid the temptation to use your bank account through them or debit cards. They do not provide the consumer protections that come with credit cards. PayPal's Buyer Protection is only 45 days, you want the protection of your card which is usually 90 and sometimes six months....See Moreif buying online...who do you trust to buy from, and...
Comments (19)Thanks- all good things for us to know when buying an expensive item. It is now ;Cyber Monday'= and I don't see any prices that are different from the last several weeks...maybe Cyber Monday is just a gimmick? I had a horrid experience with buying from Best Buy- in person....first, the salesperson walked away while I was actually asking questions about the computers- I floowed him through several isles to drag him back. He then said 'I'll be back in 3 minutes'....10 minutes later I found him standing up front talking with coworkers. I again ragged him back to the computer area. I bought the HP Mini. I did complain to the mgr, who gave me a $40 off the computor. 4 days later, when I returned the computer because it didn't work, the mgr only refunded $359, not $399...I guess all the crap I went through/got a sales price renigged because the product didn't work, and it was then ok to have such bad salespeople. I won't ever be buying from Best Buy. Now....where are the Cyber Day Sales????? owbist- I think it was you that said I was already ahead $40 online.....where, please?...See MoreIs it safe to buy on line?
Comments (13)I don't know either. I never had to send my little Oly in for repairs, and I do have a Mack warranty somewhere for that, but didn't know I might not get the repair facility I'd have preferred at the time I purchased that. I did have to send one lens in already for repair to Canon Irvine CA. They have repair facilities in both CA and NJ. I would not like to have to have my cameras/lenses/etc repaired by anyone else, in or out of warranty. My turnaround time with Canon was excellent, and I may have to send one other lens in for calibration, have to test it out more first. Too cold. Brrrrrrr. I'd advise people to really do their homework before purchasing a Mack warranty. How do you know whom to believe? Some companies I trust, and some I just plain don't know and shy away from....See MoreNervous about buying vintage online
Comments (4)I use PayPal. It is one of the safest ways to protect someone from using your credit card. A few years ago ( when I did not use PayPal) I had my USAA credit card fraudulently used several times. I spoke to the USAA fraud detection detective who told me that using PayPal is the safest way to protect your credit cards. Well, ever since I started using PayPal, I never had anyone use my credit card number fraudulently. I also have alerts sent to me via text and email for any credit card purchases over $1.00. You can eliminate any “ phishing emails” by going directly to the PayPal website by typing PayPal into your browser. Never go to PayPal through an email link. I have purchased lots of vintage Pyrex on EBay and had no issues using PayPal. I only purchase Pyrex in excellent condition. My part time hobby is improving my and my husbands cyber security❣️...See MoreAlex P.
