I want to move my Verizon modem/router to another room.

Here is my question: I have a tv in that other room that I want to continue using.

How do I go about connecting the router to the tv in that room and to my computer?

The setup, right now to the other rooms tv is .. cable to settop and hdmi to tv.

If I take the router into that room, I guess that I would run the cable to the router and then ethernet to pc.

What do I do about the tv connection?

(There is an RF to tv out coaxial hookup on the box but I'm not sure what that is?)

Why not call Verizon customer support, since it's their equipment and their service you use?

I fail to understand why anyone would write such an answer. If you don't have constructive help, don't post.
Let me understand. You have a coaxial cable for tv at present. You now want to use that coaxial cable for the router, but then will not have one for your router.
Go to electronics store. Ask for splitter. Your situation is one incoming line, needs to be split to 2 outgoing lines. Do not get 3 outgoing, it loses signal strength. Your original line(coaxial) line now goes to tv, the splitter will be attached to that line, then you use the outgoing for tv and router. You will also need X amount of coaxial cable to reach your router. Good luck, it's easy to do and should only be few bucks. Let us know how it goes.

Once you get up in those ranges, the difference is not that noticeable between, say 20Mbps and 40Mbps. If you are downloading a really large file, the higher speed will allow it to download faster, and the higher speed means less buffering of videos once the video has started. However, the display of pages by your browser may not be perceptibly much faster. It's not that there is something necessarily wrong with your computer...it's just that the software you are using (the browser) still takes a certain amount of time to process the information and can be a limiting factor. In effect, when you go to another page, the "input" queues up faster at a higher speed, but it can only be processed so fast by the computer. A couple of years ago I had a 3Mbps connection, and then I switched to a 35 Mbps connection. Even though my current speed is more than 10 times my previous one, it doesn't mean the pages load 10 times faster. In fact, pages seem to load only a tad faster now than before.

I loved Verizon fios I was one of the original test houses for the first installs of fios, this was at my previous home. I never had any problems or down time. There will be a battery backup system in your garage or somewhere. When power goes out the battery backup will keep the phone and Internet up for a period of time. It does regular self tests, when you need a new battery that is your responsibility. They provided a specific modem / router that the tech set up while doing the install. I don't know if this has changed. I would have gone with fios here but it is not available. I would say stop worrying about it the install goes pretty quickly and the tech will help you if you need it just ask them. It was an amazing experience being one of the original test houses. One day suddenly my Internet was down, I had a direct phone number to call if there were any problems. I called and with in about 20 minutes I had 4 trucks and a car of suits. It turned out an installer had accidentally disconnected me from the box down the street when he was hooking up some other person. It was quite an experience. I never had the tv just phone and Internet. Good luck!

I used to work in tech support, and I would say on the face of it, I would have to go with Verizon. There should be no possibility that a dvr or other device could damage a tv - the voltages are very low, in the millivolts really. However, I guess it's possible if there's some sort of line fault or a fault in the dvr that's putting voltage into the 'line output' however, it's very rare. I do recall one instance but it was several hundred volts, and probably due to some line fault outside, or some botched attempt at stealing cable and/or electricity. Most of the time 'voltage' is detected on the line, it's from the tv itself. First thing for you to check is the outlet. Try plugging something else in there and see if it works ok. Try the tv in another outlet, and see if there's some other device you can connect it to, perhaps a vcr or just an aerial? The fact that the tv is turning itself off - lights out, you have to turn it back on? suggests something odd, all right, I would test it like I said, if you have another tv test it in its place. I guess also check the power cords etc for the tv and ensure the power outlet's ok, toggle breaker on/off, test power like I said, and make sure the contacts in the outlet are engaging the plug. Like I said, I never say never, but normally, I would not think the situation could be caused by something plugging into the tv. Sounds like a fault was showing when text wasn't displaying well, and it go worse overnight. Unless the tv was dropped or something, it may have been a coincidence. Have you had any thunderstorms? Another question, has the tv been off for quite a while whilst you were waiting for the install? Electronics sitting idle for extended periods sometimes don't come back on.

You're not splitting your FiOS cable - that is just the type of delivery method used to your ONT (optical network terminal). What you are splitting is the MoCA (multimedia over coax)signal from the ONT used for supplying television, internet, and a LAN. As far as the best wiring method, this really needs to be checked onsite by a MoCA qualified installer - either your cable company (if they offer indoor wiring service) or an independent A/V installer. The splitters, and where they are located, is what makes the system work. Amplifiers are usually not required, but if they are, they need to be designed for MoCA use - this is a bidirectional system. The splitters are also designed for MoCA as well as any required filters. I'm quite familiar with all this but, unfortunately, it is not something that can be answered online. If your concern right now is finishing the wiring, your best bet is to home-run everything back to one central point - which is typical of any installation. If you do have to couple any cables to extend them, be sure to leave the couplers accessible in case there is a bad connector causing signal problems.

I'm sorry, I used the wrong word in one sentence. ""You now want to use that coaxial cable for the router, but then will not have one for your router"" Opps. It should say, You now want to use the tv coaxial cable for the router, which leaves you with no coaxial cable for the settop on the tv. This is the only change with the tv you need to make.
The splitter may go by a different name. And you may also need 2 extra coaxial cables to go from splitter to both settop and router. I did this many years ago for my dad. The hardest thing was crawling under the mobile home. The nut on the coaxial cable are only finger tight, no need for wrench or pliers.

I don't have Verizon but the splitter is what you need. My computer is next to my TV and I have a splitter off the TV to my router to get my internet from the TV cable so I didn't have to call to have another line run.

I will say I had to call Verizon yesterday as I was helping an elderly person set up a new stronger router to replace the cheap one they give you for free and found the tech support most helpful on the phone. Mary

You've assumed that the incoming signal is on a coax cable. That may or may not be the case, because sometimes Cat-5 cable (ethernet) is used for a fiber-optic signal. Like you, I'm not sure, so I offered useful advice by suggesting a call to someone who would be sure.

You should follow your own advice about not posting unhelpful information.

The OP does state that tv is on cable. And uses the ethernet term in regard to router to tv connection. Apparently I assumed OP knew the difference.

I see no mention of that. I see HDMI from settop to TV. That's the most common box to TV connection, no matter what the source of the TV signal - satellite, cable company, or phone company.

I understand that people who come here for help often don't provide enough information to allow others to make thoughtful suggestions. I sometimes misunderstand what's said.

Both coax and Cat-5 are called "cable". .
