I had fios Internet in Dallas and loved it, hated to leave it. I was one of the original test houses for it, I never had any problems with it. I would have it again no problem. I of course had the phone too. The only thing different is that you have a battery backup for the phone and Internet.
Never had the tv, we stayed with direct tv.

We have it in our Maryland house. No problems. We have the triple play or whatever they call it...TV, internet, and phone. When the introductory period is over, we MAY just drop the phone...don't REALLY need a landline. We used to have Comcast for TV and Internet and I didn't like them much when it was necessary to actually contact them...thank goodness, it wasn't necessary very often. FIOS is slightly cheaper in my area as well.

We have the bundle package and have for three years. Phone, internet and cable. They didn't reach an agreement a few weeks ago with a provider so for three days we were without CBS, but other than that, pretty reliable.

I have the triple bundle and when I signed up in the very beginning they gave me 200.00 dollars, how could I not sign on.
Comcast was the provider before that and it there was always something going wrong.
FIOS has been wonderful.

I'd strongly suggest you check with your neighbors, in your area. Have a feeling that FIOS service and satisfaction may be regional.

I've had Comcast for almost 20 years and have had maybe 3 problems with it over that time. A number of our friends, neighbors and relatives have tried FIOS--most have had nothing but trouble. Comcast comes out and installs everything, staying until you're up and running perfectly. FIOS? They send you the stuff and you have to do your own install--loads of problems there, and most people I know who have tried it have received USED boxes and it took several (one person had to go through 6 of them until they found one that actually worked). My DD tried to get FIOS in her condo, there were so many problems with them BEFORE she even got it installed, that she cancelled--do you know, for MONTHS they were trying to charge her for equipment she never even recieved? Of all our friends/family/relatives who have given FIOS a try? Only one still has it--I'm not sure if it's because they really love it, or because he used to work for Verizon, and still does contract work for them.

And let me just remind you of my Verizon experience last week. My phone went out Monday morning. I called immediately to try to schedule a repair (and told them we were senior citizens, with health issues)--they couldn't schedule us till Wed. I sat home all day Wed, they never came out--even though I was called twice to tell me they'd be there between..... My phone wasn't finally fixed until late Thurs. And in the meantime, they tried to tell me I'd ordered FIOS and they were switching me over!!! No such thing--FIOS is the LAST provider I'd ever use given the experiences of so many others I know. Apparently they're having so much trouble selling their service, they've resorted to slamming--one of the V. employees I spoke to admitted that that was happening to a lot of customers (the company was switching them without their asking for it). Fact is? I'd happily pay three times as much for Comcast, because I've found you can count on them, their products and their repair services--and I've never encountered any unethical, illegal selling practices with them.

BUT I allow that things like that can differ greatly from one region to another--which is why I started out by suggesting you talk to as many people in your area as you can, to find out how Verizon is handling things there.

I agree with azzalea about checking with your neighbors. Three of us in a row switched from Comcast to FIOS when they first came through the neighborhood with their special offer.

Within a matter of months all of us experienced problems with FIOS and eventually all of us went back to Comcast. Poor customer service was our biggest problem coupled with poor responses when you were able to get a customer rep.

Our Comcast people have been terrific and we have always had any problems taken care of within a few hours. If they couldn't solve the problem over the phone they scheduled a tech to come out no later then the next day.

Wow - great responses. Thanks so much. As I was reading the first few I was thinking - great! I'm going for it! Then I read Azzalea's and Secsteve's and now I'm cautious again. I, too, have Comcast now. The bill has kept going up and up and they won't do anything for me.

Good idea about checking with the neighbors. I'll do that. And I certainly don't want to install anything myself. That's for sure!

I and my neighbors had none of those negatives, they came out and installed every single thing, including running the cable though the attic to where we wanted our pc set up, they did the computer install on my pc, I stood by and watched. The outside box and inside the garage box were brand new as was the battery for the backup and router. I had to call them one time in the years I had it when one of the installers accidentally disconnected mine when installing one of my neighbors, with in 10 minutes of me calling and reporting it out I had 3 trucks at my house and not only the techs but men in suits! They were extremely nice and apologetic. I would be with them today but it is not available where I am located now.
there is a great forum for Fios over on DSLR and a direct verizon chat there also maybe you should check those forums and see it anything is reported in your area,

Verizon left a bad taste in my mouth when they started selling FIOS in my last neighborhood.
They came into the neighborhood late at night and dug up the marked Comcast cable junctions and cut them.
When my cable went out in the late evening, I looked out the window and saw the truck..quickly called Comcast and they came out. Found out the next day that Verizon workers had cut the Comcast cables in 4 or 5 different places in the development.

Wow - did anyone report that to the police?

I am on "live chat" with Comcast now asking for a better deal. Very, very frustrating chat session.

Everyone around here that I know has switched from Comcast to FioS ,and all my family has as well.

It has everything to do with who the supervisor for repairs is in your area no matter which carrier you have.

I have the dreaded Comcast in my area. I live in Alexandria and the supervisor for the tech guys is/was so bad that I received 2 or 3 refurbished DVRs every week and the DVRs had the programming from the people who complained before me. They weren't refurbished at all. My blood pressure was so high I could have had a stroke. We don't have FIOS in our area and Direct TV is great in some parts of town but not here.

After years of abuse,I finally got the right person (who actually documented my call and the history of calls which the others were too lazy to do) on the phone and I was setup with a regional manager who told me if I had problems I should call him directly and I would never have to go thru the help desk again. They gave me new boxes and I have only had to call once when it needed a reset but the guy came out personally and did it as he has promised on the same day.

The New York Times also published my adverse comments when Comcast's value went up 4.3%.

I've had FIOS for over a year. Got it the first day it was available in my neighborhood. Have had zero problems, great tv picture, and blazingly fast Internet speed (25 Mbps). I'm only sorry I couldn't have been rid of my cable service sooner. With any technology -- old or new -- there will always be a few folks who have a problem. But the FIOS technology is sound and you shouldn't hesitate about switching because it is a "new" thing. There is nothing sketchy or "under development" about it. It's simply a better way to deliver a high quality signal.
