Mikie you seem to be partly right. I have Windows 7 and Office 2007 and Wordpad will open my .docx files. After your post I tried opening my older .doc files and you are correct they open as gibberish. While I am alone in the wilderness I still feel more people should save in RTF format to get away from being tied to MS. I have a neighbour looking for work and often he cannot submit a resume as requested in Word format as he has a Mac so he was coming here to submit. I created his resume in RTF and now his Mac Pages program accepts that and so do the companies where he has applied so far.

Bestlawn! I could have asked you over on KT! I had two lines; one I managed to delete, but I've fumbled around so much I cannot remember what I did! Yes, I think the enter/return is what seems to trigger it. When I try to select the line, a thin vertical highlight strip appears on the left above, through, and below the line, but it will not delete. I've spent the last 20-30 minutes trying to figure it out, searching "help." But it's no big problem, I can scroll it down to the blank page and not print that page. And now that I know how to draw lines w/o triggering the other line, I'll be ok. I suppose 2007 is ok when one gets used to it, but it sure takes up a lot of time getting to that point. It has a default of 1.5 spacing, which is not that good for me. Thanks...you're the "best!"

the trial version is usually not the regular full version of Microsoft office it is usually the Home and Student version as in the link I will give you below. Since they are different versions I would say you should do a full install with your disc of your MS office 7. the version that comes as a trial can be very difficulty to remove, using REVO uninstaller (free) will help to remove it fully. You may want to google this remove microsoft office home and student 2007 trial. You will then see some of the problems with it. Here is a link to REVO. Revo Uninstaller just be sure you get the free download. If by some off chance your pc did come with the full version of MS office 7 I think I would still do the uninstall and reinstall the full version from your disc so you know exactly what you have and do not risk running into a problem with using your existing key code.
