Nancy, I like that song too, it's about home, and summers and being a kid and less responsibility, when all there was to do was sit on the beach at Lake Michigan all day and around the campfire all night. It WAS our childhood.

So, although I'm not a huge fan of Kid Rock, even if he is from Michigan (yeah, so is Madonna and I'm not a big fan of hers either, LOL), I love that song.

I first heard the Kid Rock song driving home a couple of nights ago. First I thought someone was doing a souped up cover of "Werewolves of London" and then I thought someone was channeling BOB SEEGER, and then I realized someone WAS in fact doing just that! I think that song is going to be a terrible corrupting influence on the youth of today, not like the good old songs we had back in my day, songs like "Night Moves."
I work at a community college, and I guess I'm old enough that sometimes I walk down the hall and just laugh and laugh--these kids think they are being sooooo original, not like us oldsters.
That midwestern rock sound of Kid Rock or John Cougar or even a hint of Motown always makes me soooo homesick. The only thing that can comfort me is a little of The Boss.

I can't get enough of this...
