My current 'feel good' song

Many of you know I live on a lake in Northern Michigan and before moving here permanently the house was the family cottage. Been coming to play up here since I was in my early teens. Many great memories.

Kid Rock has summered up here at another lake and captured the mood in the song, All Summer Long.

Every time I hear this song it puts me into the absolute BEST mood.

Actually you named my current feel good song, even though I've never been to a lake in Michigan! Love that song. Also love the new Chicken Fried song out on the radio as well, it has a similar catchy upbeat feel...

This has been my favorite for almost as long as I can remember. I dream about singing this on stage. LOL!

Howdy Eayeary, Like you, I love the clearance or what I call Dead Cart plants. lol Of course, there's a limit. Thank God, I've been lucky choosing plants w/o hitch-hikers. Which Song of India did you get? Green, medium variegated or Golden? Reason I ask is Golden is one fussy plant. Maybe lack of green has something to do with it. When buying plants from the Dead Cart, always check leaves and soil. If I found a plant in the dead cart with Mealy Bug, 'as much as I love plants,' I'd not only pass up one plant but the entire shabang. However, if a plant had Mites, 'a plant I really wanted,' you bet it'd end in my cart. Stop with the poisons. Please. Harsh chemicals are only weakening your Song. If the Song was mine, I'd remove from the pot, TOSS soil, pot and roots from the two dead songs. Then let sit in soapy water 10-15 minutes. Rinse and re-rinse. Repot in new container, 'not too big,' and fresh, dry, well-draining medium/soil. Water thoroughly until water flows out of 'drainage holes.' The first 3 days it'd sit in semi-shade, not complete dark. Day 4, medium light. Leaves would be inspected and sprayed daily. The golden needs a lot more humidity, so if by chance you have the gold, a vented, plastic bag, would provide humidity. Spider Mites are easily killed. Soapy water usually does the trick, but I also make a home-made mix of garlic, mouth wash, 'Listerine, generic is fine,' hot pepper, 'powdered,' and citrus. Mix the night before, and spray away..no need to discard. A second application, as a precaution is necessary. For Aphids..Ladybugs love Aphids..Problem is no one but me would keep ladybugs in their house, lol. Second best is Yellow STicky Traps. They're inexpensive and chemical-free..These traps capture all flying insects. They're great! I have no idea what the soil insect, sometimes milipedes and other outdoor bugs find a way in soil. It might or might not be harmless to plants.. Harmless or not, I don't like creepy-crawlers in the house. LOL. Creepy Crawlers meaning spiders, milipedes, centipedes.. ladybugs are okay..lol Songs don't like direct south or west sun. Bright light is sufficient. Mine sits off the side of an unobstructed south window, but it doesn't get direct sun. If anything, it gets more east light. Good luck, hope your Song of India does well, Toni

What an achievement! There are logistical problems with having that many musicians spread over real space while trying to keep all the sounds together. You don't usually think of rockers taking cues from conductors, but perhaps it's a skill they've learned in school. I was thinking that the lights on the tower were one big metronome, too. :) I wonder if the headsets were bluetooth monitors, ear protectors, or just noise cancelling (they were mostly on the drummers). I've been to performance style music festivals and workshop style music festivals, but to have a music festival where the attendees are the performance is really something special. With or without the Foo Fighters, this is a fantastic happening. Best wishes to Dave Grohl for a speedy recovery.

I appreciate it and I will think about it but it's my choice to take on all these animals. The shelters that I work with rehabbing wildlife, donate almost all of my dog and cat and raccoon food. I also feed it to the hogs and I am getting ready to sell 12 of them, so that money goes to the horses. Right now I am waiting (and stressing) over that double payment for Val, to be resolved by PayPal.

I found this on youtube. Crudely recorded and live but they never put it on vinyl and it still sounds good. This is the really tame side of music that I love.

Nancy, every time I hear that sound starting I think it is 'Werewolves of London'. The beginning is identical.

Kid Rock was in town (he lives here so? LOL) at a golf event not long ago. Wearing overalls with no shirt underneath on the golf course with a big stogie sticking out of his mouth. Hilarious.

Duane, yep it is Werewolves of London, and then it cleverly segues to Sweet home Alabama. Seems like the song is a big hit everywhere!

I like so many songs it's hard to name an "all time favorite", but I suppose "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cindy Lauper would have to be in my top 10!

I like LOTS of different music, although I've never been able to get into rap, somehow.

Nancy, I like that song too, it's about home, and summers and being a kid and less responsibility, when all there was to do was sit on the beach at Lake Michigan all day and around the campfire all night. It WAS our childhood.

So, although I'm not a huge fan of Kid Rock, even if he is from Michigan (yeah, so is Madonna and I'm not a big fan of hers either, LOL), I love that song.

Oh, and karen? I want a shirt with those sleeves. (grin) Actually, that was a favorite song of mine too.

Right now, though, my favorite song is a toss up between the CD that Renee (beanthere) sent me of Charo with her classical guitar and Rapid Roy the Stock Car Boy by Jim Croce.

Elery says his current favorite feel good song (although he's a big fan of MoTown and broadway tunes) is one by Josh Turner because it reminds him of me. Ah, yeah....

LOL!
I first heard the Kid Rock song driving home a couple of nights ago. First I thought someone was doing a souped up cover of "Werewolves of London" and then I thought someone was channeling BOB SEEGER, and then I realized someone WAS in fact doing just that! I think that song is going to be a terrible corrupting influence on the youth of today, not like the good old songs we had back in my day, songs like "Night Moves."
I work at a community college, and I guess I'm old enough that sometimes I walk down the hall and just laugh and laugh--these kids think they are being sooooo original, not like us oldsters.
That midwestern rock sound of Kid Rock or John Cougar or even a hint of Motown always makes me soooo homesick. The only thing that can comfort me is a little of The Boss.

I like "All This Beauty" by the Weepies. They don't seem to have a video on YouTube but the song was apparently featured in the "Sex and the City" movie (which I didn't see, I don't watch the show).

This is embarassing but I heard this on the radio on my way home last night and I can't stop singing it (not that I can understand the lyrics). So for today it's making me feel good.

Nancy, thank you for sharing!! having spent summers at Torch when I was young (grandparent's cottage) and DH spending time at family cottage in Harrison, your summer feel good song made me smile.

I miss Michigan. All north and south of it.

(It's now been 5 years! since we left)
