Made spaghetti and meatballs for a friend who had shoulder surgery, and two double batches of cookies. Some to bring to a friend who is moving reluctantly to New Jersey.......thought it would be nice to have something to nibble on during the drive, will put some in the freezer to be baked for Christmas.

Sounds like you had a productive and rewarding day, especially having the opportunity to have a chat with your grandson. My day involved making two pans of lasagna to take to a friend's birthday party, baking banana bread for my Monday volunteer group and doing 10,000 steps.

We spent Friday night out of town and ran errands on our way back Saturday afternoon. On Saturday night we attended a Halloween party at a local pub. We didn't dress up, but there were a lot of great costumes. Today we unpacked and did a fewh ousehold chores. Didn't get a lot done because we were kind of tired from Friday and Saturday.

Tomorrow I will be painting the stairs leading up to the deck and sanding a metal patio table that will be painted once the sanding is done.

My day was a little different. Did end with that 'feel good' satisfaction, but I was on the receiving end.

Started out with a 100 mile rainy trip to visit my sister in a nursing home, She is on a downhill slide in this progressive muscle disease that she and I share. We had a good visit, but I can see how much she has lost in recent weeks. The writing is on the wall for me.

Drove back home in hard rain. Went into the house to find a note from our daughter. The note listed all the 10 meals for 2 that she had prepared and placed in my freezer. Plus 3 quarts of soup. Am I blessed!! You bet I am, and very grateful.

A neighbor called to ask me to look at her thermostat. It was an easy troubleshoot. Battery replaced and working fine. While there I noticed a dining chair in front of the piano so I asked about the piano bench. Turns out the legs were loose and the lid hinge screws pulled out of the particle board seat. It was an easy hinge relocation fit, and tightening the corner braces. She wanted to pay me, but I refused money and requested a song. Marvelous! She can play AND sing!

Lgmd, my heart goes out to you. Yes, we have to keep our eyes on our blessings and not worry too much about the things we cannot change. What a wonderful daughter you have.

My grandkids visited. They used the electric juicer and made orange juice, then worked a 100-piece jigsaw puzzle. It was perfect because they have not worked many puzzles and it didn’t take too long to do. We played Uno.

All of you people are GREAT.

I’ve had a great week. Got a sweet note on Tuesday from out oldest DGD who is in her freshman year at college. She writes so well and I miss her, so it’s always great to get one of her notes.

A childhood friend who moved away when we were sophomores in HS has stayed in contact. Her Dad passed away in April and she wanted to visit her hometown, which is only 30 minutes from where I live now. She and her DH flew to Nashville mid week, visited Chattanooga, then drove to north Alabama for a couple of nights. We met them on Saturday and had dinner at the restaurant another friend of ours owns in our hometown. Closed the place down after we talked and talked. Such fun! They returned to Nashville and spent a couple of days there before flying home and she already wrote me about what a great time they had.

Yesterday I worked in the yard, tidied up and lot of things before really chilly weather and rains come again. So it was very productive. And made low carb Chicken Divan for dinner, one of my new favorites.

I’m sorry about your sister’s decline, Gazania. How hard to watch it, especially as you suffer from it yourself. What a wonderful dd you have!

I hear you, Glenda. Our two dds who live in the general area have jobs right now that are all-consuming, so we don’t get to talk to them very often, much less see them. Somehow a visit with all (with husband and fiancé,) was able to happen yesterday evening and it did our hearts such good! It’s quite surprising to me how much I miss my girls, long after they are are their own.

My family is small, and it's been a year since I've seen grandson. He does not call often but when he does, he calls because he wants to. That's what is important.

Glenda, you have such a great relationship with your grandson, especially because of your upbeat attitude. He is lucky to have you as his grandmother.

Today I did my 1 1/4 mile walk with the dog, had breakfast , then went to the gym for my weight lifting classes. I have added the stair master machine to my repertoire and am up to 1,000 steps. It is exhausting.

Next up lunch then and another walk with the dog!

A routine type day, nothing exciting, but I am grateful that I can do all these ordinary things!

lgmd, I'm sorry you are facing this difficult challenge; everyone is different and my hope for you is that you won't have as tough a time as your sister. I'm sorry for her too. You have a great attitude and a wonderful daughter - both of those things will help you get through.

I have enjoyed reading about all of your stories; it's nice to hear what each of you do as you go about your days.

Glenda I have followed your and your grandson's wonderful relationship for years. You are the grandmother I strive to be with my own grand kids.

I am still smiling over last night. DD, the grand kids (4 and 6) and I spent the evening at an amusement park. It was too loud, it was at times chaotic, it ran into a later night than intended but we made so many fun memories.

So my day is starting out well and I hope it gets even better since I am heading out to the ranch in a few minutes. It's always a good day if you smell like horses at the end of it. ;-)
