One thing is as Mikie said, you can unblock mail addresses. Another thing is your aversion to allowing them into your email account. I did it a few times because my ATT/Yahoo account couldn't handle the overload of mail I receive, and my mailbox simply broke down several times and had to be rebuilt. While there is a limit, I receive so much at once and constantly that things periodically went wrong. I let them in and they fixed it each time, and I didn't lose any mail in the process. You don't have to give them your password. They can create a temporary password and then you change it back when they are finished. Another thing is a Yahoo notice that was sent to their Plus users. I don't know if this applies to you because I don't know if you are a Plus subscriber and also have no idea if you use a third party email client like Outlook or IncrediMail or if your friends use one. You can decide for yourself if this is helpful to you at all. It really sounds more like the problem is on your friend's end. So I shut down and restarted my computer and everything went back to normal. Don't know why it did that either. I haven't tried it since that happened it was getting to late and I needed to get off of the computer. owbist, I do know how to place an attachment into an email but what I was wondering is how do these people do the video thing. I don't think I am making myself clear enough so please bear with me. When I receive an email (lets say from my niece) she sends me an attachment to a video and when I click on it the video starts playing in my media player. What I am trying to find out is: Did they create the .wmv themselves or are they getting it off of a website, then sending it to me? What I was trying to find out is how is the .wmv created? Do you need special software to do the videos? I know I am asking a lot of questions here but I'm not sure which is the right question. Ha! thirdfrt!!!

I use netscape.net (AOL) and comcast.net. When I compose in Comcast, type in a URL and send to my Netscape email it shows up as a clickable URL, for example - after typing http://www.ebay.com. However, when I type the same when using Netscape/AOL and sending it to my Comcast email it does not work. Check this. On the Comcast email, click Preferences, then Display. That gets two choices. The second one - Choose how to display email messages -- allows you to select Display HTML in body of email. See if that works.

You might be very happy using Google's Gmail system. It has all (or most) of the features of Outlook including email, calendar, contact book, and other little applets. It was made to compete with Outlook. Many companies use it as their internal system, yet it's easy enough for any individual to use. ellie, I need a high speed connection, faster than DSL can provide, because I type very, very fast..............just kidding. It's really nothing exotic. I need a robust up-link capacity (about 5 megs) for Slingbox use. Slingbox is a hardware and software system that allows watching my TV (both live and previously DVR'd programs) over the internet in HD quality from anywhere. DSL usually can't get to much beyond 1 meg or so, that's not nearly enough. Also, cable (and fiber optic where available) can provide more down-link capacity than DSL, essential when you have a household of multiple users (kids) all trying to stream something video-related at the same time.
