Need good thoughts for my boys ( Hayden and Hudson)

Well finally got the boys surgery scheduled for the 19th of this month. Both boys need to have tubes in their ears, and Hayden needs to have his tonsils and adnoids out because of his snoring. I put off scheduling because I hate the thought of them being so little and having surgery (Hayden is 2 and Hudson just turned 1 last week.) But Hayden's hearing has been affected by fluid in his ears and also affected his speach and balance. Both girls were over 3 before they ever had an ear infection, the boys haven't been so lucky since having RSV early this year they seem to get everything including the flu already. (influenza a) So if I could have some good thoughts sent our way. I just got out of the hospital almost 2 weeks ago after spending a week in the hospital with pneumonia and am still trying to get my strength and energy back after that. I had h1n1 before that for a week and a half, so has been a long year with everything going on.

@ Vinita Bali Actually, Vinita, the defective casting was probably new, just not very well cast. Casting, whether sand or mold casting, is not always a precise process. The flow of the molten brass may not be even, resulting in voids in the finished product that engineers call "holidays" (Why "holidays", I don't know. We call them "holes".). If the holes are big enough, the casting is scrapped and melted down to make a new casting. But, some companies patch small holes with a solder or braising material. Not the best solution, but it works most of the time. Not in your case, however. Looks like the solder patch was a "cold patch" that did not adhere well to the underlying brass. My point is that if Hudson Reed (actually Limitless Digital Group, Ltd.) says it was a new casting, it most likely was. When the company admitted the defect, but denied your claim, did they deny their obligation to 1. Replace the defective part, or 2. Repair the damage to your kitchen resulting from released water, or 3. Both? If they denied just 2, it's because of a clause in their warranty in which they disclaim all liability for damage to anything other than the product itself, or what lawyers call "consequential damage". This disclaimer is very common, and almost never works in court due to some basic procedural defects in how the warranty is delivered endemic to internet sales. But, companies use it to bluff you into thinking they do not have to pay for consequential damages, and most consumers are fooled by the bluff. Kudos to you for pushing on and making them pay in the end. Most people would have given up. Update added: We went down and saw my new nephew Aiden. What a little cutie. He is in the nursery full time and has an IV in his poor little head running all the time. This evening though they finally got to put him into his mama's room so that is good news. They left the port in his head just in case they need to use it again. The funny thing is that he looks just like Hayden, the two can be twins. I feel for my sil, her mom is totally mean and driving her nuts and is no help at all. She was going to stay for a month to help out, and with the babies problems she will need the extra help but out of the blue said good bye last night and no one has seen her since. My sil overcompensates by saying that she will just figure it out on her own. She hasn't been around babies and only has 2 weeks maternity leave, 2 days gone already. I hope to go down on Sunday when they get home and snuggle that baby. I will post a pic in a new post when DH gets the pics downloaded. Stacie

I am so sorry about your loss. Poor Jane knew that you were doing everything you could for her. I lost my Megan like this in January. For her, though, there we absolutely no signs that she was ill until she had internal bleeding from a liver cancer tumor that burst. At the emergency vet, they took one look at her, said "She's a lab mix, so this is probably cancer. If it is in her liver, we'll call you right during the surgery to euthanize her." Liver cancer seems to be common for labs. Well, they were right, and they put her to sleep while she was still under anesthetic from the surgery. I drove back there and petted her until she was cold. I am so sorry to hear of your Jane. I know how you feel about your Jane's suffering. You did everything you could for her, and she tried her hardest for you. You will remember her wonderful presence in your life forever. She is a part of you by way of the lessons she taught you about love and devotion. You will mourn the lack of her company, but a part of her remains in the person you have become. I will think of you and your Jane girl often and send you thoughts of healing and comfort.

Stacie, Bud had tubes in his ears a year ago and Elery just had some in his years a couple of years ago. Elery said it was the best thing he ever did, and Bud didn't even miss a beat, he hit the ground running. He had constant ear infections before that, and none since.

Still, I know it's worrisome, so I'm sending good thoughts for your boys, especially Hayden with his tonsils.

My son had tubes in his ears also. Prior to that he had chronic ear infections and a diarrhea due to all the antibiotics. Surgery is super quick. The only hassle was having to use silicon ear plugs for bathing and swimming. We coupled them with a velcro-closure neoprene headband to keep them in.

Hugs to you and the little ones. They will be fine!

Prayers going out for both right now . When my daughter was 2 she had recurring ear infections , one right after she would finsih up the medicine, she would come down with it again. So her doctor recommended tubes be put in . She had the operation and the infections were history. It was a year later before I had to take her in with a respiratory infection.

If the infection is affecting his ability to learn to speak, he needs that surgery to put the tubes in ASAP.

Things will get better -- see if someone can help you so you're not doing too much yourself, at least until you are fully recovered.

Tubes rock! One of my daughters had 3 sets of tubes before she was 5 years old. My son had 2 or 3...can't remember now but I do remember how sick they both were before the tubes. After the tubes they were like new children!

I'll keep you and you family in my thoughts.
