Can someone tell me if I can trust these virus instruction?

Somehow Antivir Solution Pro has taken over my computer. Son #2 uses UTorrent and son #1 says this is probably how I got it although he has used it for a long time. Son #1 restored computer to a previous date and that seemed to get rid of it. I had been using AVG, but let the free trial expire. I decided to activate it after that. I paid the money and downloaded the new version of AVG and as soon as I did, Antivir Solution Pro took over again. How did that happen? Am I out the money I paid for AVG? Anyway, I found these instructions for removing Antivir, but didn't know if I could trust this website.

I would highly suggest you go to the forum I will list and start a thread there in the area I link to asking for assistance, tell them exactly what you know about what it is you have, the team there will lead you through cleaning your infection step by step using some specialized programs. This type of infection can be difficult to remove with out the assistance of the malware forum pros to guide you.

Patti, I've got a huge (now dried out) fasciated rose cane in my collection and it didn't curve around like yours did. Mine didn't grow that fast, either. That faster growth on one side than the other is sometimes seen on stems with RRD. Whatever the virus does accelerates growth on one side more than the other. What you need to do is watch the cane it came from and see if the next leaf axil down that cane starts doing wonky things. Esp. the leaf axil on the same side of the cane. I've often said that we don't know all the symptoms of RRD (and other diseases.) We can learn from what others see and record from their gardens. You've got something happening. "Hmmm, I am very concerned, as the instructions on the filler, don't mention any sort of rough in valves...." A misunderstanding of what I wrote. You are right, there is no rough-in valve for your installation. Your "valve" is built in to finished piece, where the hot and cold handles are. When I wrote "Rough plumbing gets located and stubbed out" I was referring to just the hot and cold supply tubing coming up through the floor. After reading the directions you linked, you don't need any stub outs coming up through the floor. All you need is a 1-1/2" hole through the tile and through the subfloor. Your hot and cold water supply lines underneath the floor need to terminate with (probably) threaded end fittings within 4"-6" of the underside of that hole. I'm guessing (could be different, see the parts in your faucet) that the fitting will be a 1/2" CxM fitting that'll probably look like this. One end of that CxM fitting gets soldered to your 1/2" copper supply lines, one hot, one cold, that are under the subfloor. The flex tubing included with your faucet goes from your faucet's threaded connector to the threaded end of that CxM connector. Again, all that 1/2" stuff is a sizing guess on my part. Back to the main question...the plumber should designate where he wants the faucet hole in the floor. He can drill a hole through the subfloor where he wants it and terminate the supply lines under the floor at that location. Your tile guy can then come in and tile the floor and while doing so, leave a nice 1-1/2" hole right above the hole that the plumber drilled in the subfloor. If the tile guy will do his work before the plumber does any of his work, just tell the tile guy where to leave the 1-1/2" hole. In writing. With a measured drawing. Or with a big "X" on the floor. Make sure it gets put in the right location. lol The plumber can come later and plumb to the hole from below and install the faucet from above. Lots of words! Sorry!

You're very welcome Ghazal :) Its great that you've noticed it does better with more light, always trust your instinct as the generic advice online is hard to apply to so many different scenarios. Calatheas don't do well in direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves, but in a north-west facing window it will largely receive indirect light and a small amount of weak sunlight when the sun is setting, so putting it next to the window should be great for it. As a tip for working out what is "bright, indirect light" try and find a place where your hand casts a fairly strong shadow, or where you can easily read a book without needing a light on. Direct sunlight is when the rays hit the plant. In terms of increasing humidity, theres a few things. You can add a little water to the pebble tray but do not let it reach the bottom of the pot as you don't want the roots to be sitting in water. As the water evaporates, it creates humidity. Buying a humidifer is another option if you want to, although probably not necessary until winter. Or placing it in or near the bathroom or kitchen where it will get some steam if that's an option. Grouping plants together if you have others always helps to increase humidity. Hope that helps! Also, in case you aren't aware - Calatheas are fussy about the minerals in tap water if you have hard water in your area. It's best to use distilled or rain water where possible, although I can't see any evidence of your plant not being happy with the water. " in spite of showing the most common, everyday symptom of lack of nitrogen: general yellowing. " And this may be where some of the confusion is coming in. A nitrogen deficiency is NOT characterized by a "general yellowing".....at least in an established or older plant (may show as a generalized off color in seedlings). It is the oldest (lower or inner) growth that first shows symptoms of yellowed foliage, never the new growth. That's where the plant pushes all of its nutrient reserves. If this were the issue with the plant in question - lack of adequate N - then we would see internal discoloration, not the external coloring the photos illustrate. And the new growth would not be as lush or profuse or as dense as is shown. And that is simply the way that specific nutrient deficiency works....it is not really up for debate! Yard, I am really having trouble understanding why you are not willing to accept this, including the input from two quite experienced horticulturists/plantspersons (floral and Embothrium), leaving my comments aside. It's not like yews of all types are rare commodities in either the PNW or the UK and both individuals confirm that very chartreuse, acid yellow/lime green is not an uncommon coloring for any new growth yet you seem to dismiss that as inconsequential or limited to only selected cultivars. I wish I had taken photos of the new stock at my local nursery when I was there last week, as ALL the yews were showing similarly colored new growth. It only lasts a matter of a couple of weeks before it takes on the more typical darker green color. And there is also the very real consideration that color perception is largely subjective - what seems anemic or bleached out to you looks perfectly normal to others - and that photos seldom portray color with total accuracy. I have to say that I do not see any "yellow" in the OP's photo.....just a very vibrant lime green. And the shrub appears to be extremely healthy with dense new growth and no obvious need for any fertilization at this time.

Programs like the one you are trying to remove are fake antivirus that mess up your computer after installation. This typically happens from visiting a sketchy site: a fake message pops-up saying that your computer is infected and it can be cleaned up if you just install Product X. If you do that, you're giving permission for malware to be installed on your computer.

I suspect that this may have happened when your son was using UTorrent. You should have a talk with him and anyone else that uses your computer to make sure there's no more clicking on stuff like this in the future, or visiting of dubious sites.

AVG has a totally free version you do not have to buy it, what you had apparently was the trial version of the pay version.
If you want a good free Antivirus program there are a few good choices,
AVAST, MSE microsoft security essentials, AVG, AVIRA

When you go to the malware removal forum you will be helped with choosing and installing a good antivirus also just be sure to post all of that info. In fact it is a good idea to put a link to this post over there so we have it all together.

You never removed the virus files. System Restore doesn't fix virus issues. You may well have other infections going undetected as well. Really need to follow RC advice.

All System Restore does is go back to some earlier settings for your computer. It does not magically restore your computer to the exact state it was in at the restore time. Software you have added since (good and bad), files, photos, music, etc. are all unaffected.
