trouble installing microsoft office professional plus 2010

Have spent many hours trying unsuccessfully to load office to laptop. Error 1935 comes up after download and partial install. In googling error 1935, I found information about needing to update .Net, but I have already installed the 4.0 version. Laptop is HP Pavilon running Windows 7. Previously had Office 2007 installed, which has been removed. Any helpful ideas?

I will assume malware free system, up to date etc.
I generally let the 2010 install upgrade the existing 2007 installation rather than remove the old one - Microsoft has finessed this pretty well, and it's never let me down.

When taking the route you did, I would first check that the old installation was indeed fully removed. The link supplied has some Fix It buttons, which is where I would start.

I would also consider running an error check and defrag on the drive before attempting the reinstallation.

Click Start
click Control panel
click Uninstall a program
click on .NET framework
click Uninstall/repair
Then you can select the repair feature and hopefully you'll be good to go.

You may need to have administretor rights too, it'll give you that good news if needed.

Nonnie, please don't take offense but I think the problem is more with you being a novice than with Wordperfect. I say that based on a couple clues you give me in your post. One thing is WordPerfect will accept any universal graphics format. Those do not include graphics generated in program-specific formats like Print Shop or Master Prints and other such programs. Universal formats include bmp, jpg, tif, wmf, eps, pcx, png, and there are many others, but these are the most common. WordPerfect will accept all of these and most (if not all) of the others. And, of course, it accepts its own format wpg. To find out what it will accept, go to Insert Picture as if you are going to insert one. Click on the Files of Type arrow at the bottom and scroll to see what all is in there. Files of any other type will not be compatible, which means you might have to tell it to accept more if it isn't already programmed to do that. This is part of setup and is located on your WordPerfect installation disk. Concerning the article you are trying to put into your document, I don't know what that is. Is it type-written words or is it a graphic image? Is it a WordPerfect document? A Word document? A document created in some other program? Or a graphic clip that someone sent you? And how are you trying to insert it? If it is type written, is it possible to copy and paste it in? Please give a little more information? Increasing memory, as Owbist suggested, is always a good. I do know Word is the more popular word processing program used these days, but WordPerfect is also powerful and nothing snuff at LOL. I can understand the documents you receive from people are usually written in Word and having Word will make like a lot easier for you. So, to answer your question, yes you can install and run Word without having to uninstall WordPerfect. Installing Word is simple enough. The installation Wizard will walk you through it. You just follow the instructions on the screen and answer the questions it asks. You may want to instruct submissions to limit file types and size. If I were you, I'd make that only bmp formats because they don't blur or distort as readily as jpg formatted images. Also, people will send 10mg files because they don't know any better. You may want to tell them to limit file size to 1mg or 2 or 3 so you are able to manage the size and functionability of your newsletter pages(s). If you ever have to take your newsletter to a service bureau for printing, they will require jpg images only, so you will need to know that when instructing submissions.

Yes, if all else has failed I would remove the program and start over. Most HP printers seem to require you to start your program install with the printer not even connected to the computer. At a given point you will be notified to connect and the computer tries to recognise the printer and the process moves on to completion. Silly time now but you seem to be running out of options to try. Have you got a Works version created before the year 2000? If so did you install this patch? If not and you do not have it you can download it from here. It is the third option from the bottom. Seems foolish but we never know with these gadgets of ours. I had an unsettling day with my HP yesterday while printing labels. The humidity was causing pages to stick together to get my rankled to begin with. Then the printer would not start the print job. Hmm, checked everything. Eventually I discovered my labels were wider than the allowable settings so a notice popped up advising me. But in an instant the "I am printing" notice popped up covering the first notice and the printer could not start till I acknowledged the error that I was unaware of LOL.

I kept getting reminders to download Windows 10, I'd say "later". Than last night I got a message that the download would begin in seven hours. I think I had reserved a download way back when. I had heard alot of scary stories so was worried, but decided "what the heck". Instead of putting it off I'd let it go and download. If I couldn't work with it or hated it, I'd take it to Staples and have them remove it. Went away and came back to the timers saying it was 75% downloaded! Ok - here we go. And guess what? Like others have mentioned, I don't see much difference at all! Only the My Picture file, that appears differently but not something I can't get used to. All my other files and programs and even desktop display and icons are right where I left them. However, when I put my camera card into the PC to download photos to my computer, things were definitely different - mainly the file folder where the imported photos go to. I'll have to fool around with it some more to figure out how to do it as smoothly as I could with Windows 7. So far, no problems anywhere else - knock on wood. Plus I don't use my computer for business so I don't have those type of files and software to deal with.

I'm currently using a legal copy of Microsoft Office 2007 on a one year old Lenovo PC with Win 10 and it works fine. I've encountered none of the issues the OP mentions but I don't use passwords on my PCs or on my files. On other PCs, I have Libre Office and so long as MS file formats are chosen, all files are mutually compatible. Open Office WAS at one time a popular free open source office suite, active development for which ceased years ago (maybe 2010 or 2011?). Developed first by Sun, then transferred to Oracle, there was some political baggage that pretty much brought it down. LibreOffice began life as a development fork from Open Office and is the only one of the two that has a continuing active development effort and regular updates. Neither program has a "staff". This is fully open source software. Development is done part time by volunteers around the globe who do so for the fun of the project alone.

Thank you for responding. The reason we took off office 2007 is because of the trouble installing 2010 and that is one of the recommendations found online. I do think it is totally off of the computer. If you would give detailed instructions, I would try to run an error check and defrag, but I don't know how. Owbist, I tried your suggestion and used the repair feature on the .NET framework. Unfortunately, I just tried installing 2010 again and got the same error message. Any other ideas?

Are you running the download as a direct install or trying to save it first then install? Whichever way you could try the other.

Just another thought.

How about trying a download and save then an install in safe mode? If a backgound application is interferring this would be the remedy.

I feel like I am in over my computer literacy. I downloaded it from a link, so it is in my downloads folder. I click on it from there, it extracts file, asks for my key code, and gets about 1/2 way through the installation. How would I do that in safe mode?

Unfortunately there are of course a lot of variables.
However, I have found some Office installations claim to have been removed - but aren't entirely. Ergo the reference in the Microsoft link to the "Windows Installer Cleanup utility" which worked, but was subsequently withdrawn for reasons stated.
Please refer to the MS link to perform a drive check.
Once completed, the defragmentation can be performed via the same route - the 'Defragment now' button is directly below the 'Check now' button.

I like the safe mode Idea, problem is the windows installer is not available in safe mode, so on the same thought you could disable your anti virus programs. As exam said there's a lot of variables here. It's a difficult issue to work through I've seen so many suggestions on the error it makes my head spin. 1 Person was successful running ccleaner in registry mode.

Just wanted to give an update. We gave up and let a professional look at the laptop. He found some corrupted system files that needed to be repaired and once fixed was able to install Office 2010. Thank you to everyone who tried to help.

I read this too late, but Microsoft would have provided free support to install their product.
