Good grout removal tool
Comments (24)studio, The tile seemed adhered to the plywood pretty well except the row right next to the cabinets and I suspect they didn't get thinset under there as well as they could have..but I also suspect a decoupler like Ditra might have been better in an older house like this where there's been settling. Just guessing, I don't really know! Not to mention that they pushed out the kitchen at some point and the transition to the newer floor isn't level even to the naked eye. Considering all that, I guess it's held up ok. Yeah, I know the reputation of Harbor Freight tools, but I thought that if the blades were interchangeable it might be worth trying one out on my Multi-Max. You wouldn't think they could screw up a blade too badly. They were signifigantly cheaper, but then I probably won't have a need to cut out grout that often anyway. I'm not really unhappy with the Multi-Max, it did its job well - I just tend to think it would take a long time on a large floor. But then again, the grout lines I had to cut out were extra wide so they did probably take longer than most would....See MorePics of marble subway done (grout dried)
Comments (53)Hi worldmom - thank you! The fixture is from Rejuvenation but I'm sorry that I don't know its name! I only got that fixture temporarily (got it in person since they're local) so my electrician could see what would be used canopy-wise (same canopy size as the one that's coming in the mali that had to be special ordered). The electrician made a hole off-center in the ceiling and it was supposed to be centered and he was moving things a bit so needed a canopy to know what's what. He misunderstood me and installed it so I have to unscrew it and return it soon! I like the George one! The one I'm getting is the kind that instead of hanging by a rod, is hanging by a black cloth-covered cord. I'm doing a polished nickel canopy and socket and a glass white shade (cone style, kind of wide). The fixture I'm getting is called Willis. The shade I'm getting isn't on their website but is in the store. It looks like the one in the link I'll put here only it doesn't have lines etched in it. Not sure if the link will look (I did the customizing thing in which you play around with the pictures - fun huh!)... Here is a link that might be useful: The light fixture I have coming in the mail, only my shade won't have lines etched in it...See MoreGrout issue due to drywall dust on brand new floor.
Comments (79)Wow! Just came across this thread. We have Marazzi Chateau Reserve hickory grove and same happened with our grout. I chose a grout that would blend in with tile and also chose this tile bc I wanted a very thin grout line. I have tried everything- tile brush , steam mop. Our contractor didn’t care. I will Reread this thread and try some of the options mentioned. Our tile looks great but the grout drives me crazy. It just looks dirty since it’s a lighter color. Makes me angry when I see it bc I would have never picked such a light color. Luckily - it’s only in our master bath. It’s a shame some contractors are so unscrupulous. I know there are honest ones out there, too bad we didn’t hire one ....See MorePolished Marble Tile Dull After Grout? Pics Inside - Help Appreciated
Comments (11)@dostk did you ever resolve this? We had a white and gray honed marble mosaic installed and after grouting, the whole area looks completely different. The stone doesn't look anything like the uninstalled mosaic, now it has almost a dull/frosted glass (not shiny) look to it ... is the best way I can try to describe it. Basically it doesn't even read as marble to me anymore. As far as I know, our contractor's installer did not seal it before hand (it was still in the boxes and packing sleeves) and used a sanded grout. The option of sanded or unsanded was never mentioned to us and as newbies we didn't know to ask. Is there anything that can be done to bring the original look back or is this just expected and we should have done a mock up as someone mentioned before?...See Morebiondanonima
