Task Bar

Win XP2 - My new computer only allows 5 items on the taskbar, then the arrow appears hiding the other items. I like all my icons to appear. On my other XP machines, all my icons are showing.

How can I get rid of the arrow and allow the icons to show?

Right click on the task bar/ properties/ and make sure that "Hide inactive icons" is unchecked.

All my icons are showing, but I've ran into some xp systems where even with that unchecked I get the arrow and hiding the other icons, which bugs me.

Microsoft has the TweakUi for XP that easily changes the quanity of task bar items before that drop down list starts.

Put your cursor on an empty spot on the task bar, hold down the left mouse button and drag the bar into place. You may have to experiment a little with where you can click on it to drag it. After you get it in place right click on an empty spot and the task bar and select 'lock the task bar' and it should stay there.

it helps when we know what windows you are using and what browser. a couple of things to try, sometimes you can accidently hit the F11 key at the top of your keyboard that can make the page go to full size and may make things disappear hitting F11 again will return it to normal. you may not have had your taskbar locked down, this is for xp, right click down where the taskbar should be and see if you get a menu. If it got toggled to disappear like DA mentioned once you get it back you want to right click and lock the taskbar in place you can also go into properties and set it not to disappear(auto-hide). And also to check to keep the taskbar on top of other windows.

sorry I am late getting here but see you got your answer so that is good. Yes you really do need to put ad block plus and the easy list on your firefox since you already use firefox. Just go here to the ad block plus and click add to firefox you will then have to shut down firefox and restart then go here and under easylist click where it says add to adblock plus to add the easylist subscription then it is a good idea to restart firefox one more time. Adblock Plus 1.3.3 then this EasyList

You guys are unbelievable. I downloaded Tweak and followed Mikies screen shot and it worked! I couldn't get my icons unhidden (even with 'hidden' unchecked). This worked. I like a neat screen and keep my most-used programs on my task-bar.
What a neat tool.
