Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop. Click here
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
 Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
 If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
 Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan.
 The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
 When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
 Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
 When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
 The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
 Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediately.

As you have the list of the 17 items just search for each and remove manually as suggested. Use Start/Search in XP - slightly different in Vista but still Search as your destination.

Thanks for your response. I will make sure I have Malware as stated above and do that. I didn't want to leave the computer on last night so before turning it off, I did a search with one of the names given but reported it did not find it. I copied the list down but first will do the Malware scan and see what happens. Thank you for your replies. I got a message this AM on my laptop that I have some critical stuff on it but checking the event log nothing is listed. I just updasted at MS but will do that again this AM.

What are you using for an up to date AntiVirus program on your computer. IE. Norton, AVG, Avast, McAfee?????

Last antivirus update and run was yesterday with nothing reported. I am using AVG free 8.5. Was considering going to Avast from what I've read. My hourglass icon is not staying on as long as it was. Can't remember when I did a defrag on this computer, maybe never. Thought about this when it took so long to run the TrendMicro. Found a Win XP (Simmons) book which should have the instructions. I copied suggestions from ravencajun of Jan 4, 09 and plan on structuring my security along those lines. Also need to find those 17 files that need deleting, "vulnerable"? Hopefully I'm fairly safe for now. Thanks all for your prompt help, you've saved my toast again.

be cautious of any thing that wants you to pay to clean the pc many of those are in fact infections.

I personally would stick with either Avast or AVG and not bother with the trend micro.

Well if the last defrag was eons ago you might consider doing a disk cleanup using something like the free Ccleaner to remove all the garbage then do your defrag. The defrag might take a while seeing it has been a long time since the last one

Sorryn took so long getting back. Thank you for the site for the free scanning, will use that next time. Also, will download the free CCleaner. I thought I had it before but must have removed it. I did a defrag and it wasn't too long, have plenty of room for my files. The disk cleanup on my computer was sooo very slow. Puter seems to be working a lot better now. Thanks again.
