Vent-A-Hood Ductless ARS range hood Update
Comments (198)With conventional hood systems, the expectation is that the larger particles within the entire grease particle spectrum are collected by the baffles, and the smaller particles are ejected into the outside air, with only modest condensation or impact collection by the duct. To deal with the entire particle spectrum with a filter pack is a challenge, and probably unaffordable in cost for most residential users. If the Amazon rating is based on comparison to outside venting, the result above might be reasonable. As a commercial example, the Wells WVU-31CT filter system is described below: "Filtration Completely self-contained filtration process reduces emissions below that allowed in NFPA 96 and ANSI UL710B using the EPA 202 test method and includes stainless steel grease baffle filter with grease cup, fiberglass pre-filters, high-efficiency (Particulate Air) filter/ carbon-charcoal filter pack. All filters are easily removable with out tools. Air flow sensors continually monitor air flow optimizing performance and grease removal while an interlock system will not allow cooking appliances to function if filters are missing, clogged or in the event of a fire." About $18k. Electric surfaces only....See MoreConverting a duct-less range hood to ducted
Comments (5)We recently bought a house with an ADU and are getting ready to rent it. The range hood in the kitchen is both ducted and ductless. For some reason, the installer (or previous owner/tenant?) installed the range hood so that it both ducts to the outdoors as well as back into the unit. Trying to understand how to convert this to the ducted-only configuration. Can I just block the holes to the ductless part? Is it more complicated than that? Looked at the manual quickly and didn't seen an obvious fix (or set-up to reverse). Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks....See MoreBosch/Kitchenaid/Fridgidaire Pro: fridge, gas range & range hoods
Comments (9)I have a Bosch dishwasher which replaced the Bosch dishwasher I purchased in 2004. The old dishwasher was still working great but since I was doing a gut remodel, I decided to just go ahead and get the new one installed especially since I decided to go with a paneled version. I also have a Bosch induction cooktop and side opening oven. I specifically did NOT go with the Bosch refrigerator as the sales person advised me against it because he said the interior now had a lot of plastic. He instead recommended KA, Jennair or GE Profile. He didn't have any particular reason to steer me away from the Bosch refrigerator or to the other brands which he recommended instead....See MoreDoes a ductless range hood insert need to have open ventilation?
Comments (6)@3onthetree Okay, that makes sense. I hadn't considered the pressure issue. But this is an insert that is designed to be put inside a cabinet or frame. And I have seen a lot of these ductless inserts placed inside frames like mine that are against the ceiling and with cabinets on either side and no visible vent at all. So are they all installed wrong? I have watched so many tutorials and read so many blogs and no one addresses this issue. What if we create a top out plywood with a hole, then install a duct that goes up through that hole to blow the air out of the top? That way I could still enclose the frame and I wouldn't have to worry about dust collecting in the cavity, but the air would have some place to go. Would that work? Here is a pic of what the unit looks like inside the frame:...See Moreweedmeister
