OiBit Advanced System Care Free 4

I have removed ASC from my W7 machine but continued to have it on my XP machines. I had not used it in recent months even on the XP machines, even though I always liked the way it found so much "stuff" to fix, and it "fixed" them. Tonight I decided to download and install the latest Free version 4, on an XP machine.

The 4 version has a totally different look from the 3.7.3 and offers different triggers for some of the old scan functions.

I have run only the regular scan, and it was a lot like 3.7.3 in the results. In fact I ran it after running 3.7.3 and having it carry out repairs. Still, version 4 found more problems to fix.

Version 4 also has a "deep care", I haven't tried/ran it. The "Turbo Boost" looks interesting, but I hesitate to implement it... anyone have experience with ASC Free 4 and the Turbo feature?

IoBit Advanced System Care is not recommended on this forum or many others that I frequent. Long story involving dishonest actions on part of the "owners" who happen to be a Chinese company. Others may wish to add some thoughts as to why they do or do not use this.

Looks like Turbo feature shuts down services and processes. I'd steer clear of it for now, the program should have a reset back to defaults option in case you shut down the wrong item. I didn't see the option to do that.

Dapper, I placed an old ski pole in the center (because I had one that I was going to throw away), then I pounded stakes in a circle around the edge of the bed (about 1' in) and tied garden twine to them, which I then tied to the top of the pole. I planted the beans around each stake, probably around 4-6 seeds each, and they grew up the twine. I had to add an extension to the ski pole, it wasn't nearly long enough. While the beans were growing on the outside, I had lettuce growing on the inside (empty, shaded) area. I really don't care for or recommend this method, it's difficult to find/pick the beans that grow on the inside of the tepee. Thanks I give it another try on my W8.1 (this) laptop. It came to mind this morning when my wife complained here Dell XP Desk Top was just churning on the request she sent in for Firfox. I tried a reboot and same, just stuck - Firfox was "embarrassed" and so was I. She had on old copy of ASC so I ran it. It discovered a number of "faults/problems" including some in the Registry. I had it clear them all and the Desk Top is running normal again. I'd like to try it on my W8.1 as it has some problems I had after some discussion on this form was due to a faulty DSL modem. The telco tech said they ship me a new modem, a newer improved one, for about $15 shipping, they couldn't give me a drive in place to pick it up that day, a Friday. So I contact my calble tv guys and the turned on the internet access and I picked up a cable modem at Walmart and was back on the internet with up to 105 mb, compared to my 8 mb DSL. I have never seen anything close to 105, and mostly more around 10 mb - so I don't notice any real improvements in speed on my computer, but think Roku/Netflix on my HDTV and my laptop run better on the higher speed, no breaks to load the buffer. I think Cable over states their speed more than does the dsl. My 8 mb DSL is closer to 5 mb.

Would like to add as politely as possible that the insecticides included in these formulas should be used with extreme caution. They are a health hazard to you, your children, your pets, the environment, good insects and the future of the world. The continued use of one single insecticide breeds chemical resistant insects. Bayer does make a fungicide only for use on disease. Even that must be rotated with other chemicals or it will eventually cease to work. I am not passing judgement just letting you and those reading know. In todays world it is helpful to be as informed as possible. You now need to go on line to research most safety data sheets on a particular chemical. Once again I would like to extend my apology for bringing this up. I'm just not sure if it is right to totally ignore the insecticide issue or not. I hope I'm not blasted for speaking up. I'll shall sheepishly go into hiding now. :-)

Looks and sounds good to me ,i doubled down on Freebird looks like it will do as advertised. With the Nantucket Blue & Pauls Glory hosta should look nice if NB stays at 4.5 ish feet if not i have a spare Dave Ramsey or i can find that Ld Rave. Plants sales are everywhere right now, still some good looking stuff out there Home depot near Ross park mall has just about everything 75 percent off. Hydrangea zebra,zorro, nikko,penny,LA dreamin, various randoms,a lace cap from gardeners confidence and Cherry dazzle myrtle (twiggy). Midnight Dutchess from that line is now cancelled, not sure which one was there. If its the cancelled one i may pick it up, it's dirt cheap and i have no lace caps. For full price they had Forever and ever gallons really wanted FE Together but, the pot was cracked and it looked dead. They actually got in a fresh shipment of hydrangea during this heat a whole rack of glowing embers wilting in the sun. Those will be on clearance along with the other 6 to 8 skids of hydrangea. While these sales are happening might pick some hydrangea i wouldn't normally. Springwood you have been extremely helpful, you have high degree of knowledge on the topic i find it very refreshing. Hopefully these sales yeild some showpiece cultivars like a Lady in red or Plum passion hydrangea. Thanks again Springwood much appreciated.

Thanks,yes I noticed the turbo could shut down stuff I would not want to shut down.. I wondered if there was more.

I recall getting advice on this forum long ago that ASC was a good tool. Then when I ran into some problems on W7 I got advice not to use it on W7. Now I get advice not to use it at all... I can "live" with that.

In it's reputable day ASC was a good application to use albeit in ways a powerful one. Its numerous tools were pretty much divided into three categories, redundant as others of quality were available, for the general user, and for the advanced user. Members here and at other forums were regularly reminded to stay within their limitations.

Then it went to the dark side and everyone I know pulled it due to lack of product faith, or in protest to IOBit's shady activity.

There are other programs that do much the same job and do it well, so no need to bemoan not using this one. Commodo has a good cleanup tool, and it's free. Of course, our old reliable CCleaner is always available, too. I'm always leery of any application which finds all sorts of "stuff" that needs to be removed or repaired.

I use ASC the newest and I like it!, don't care where it comes from or who else don't like it!, it's free and does an awesome job...I also have AVG 2011 and malewarebytes, but for a through job well done, and fast AVSC is the one..

I use it on W7 and XP, I have 4 PC's in my home.. and I help other seniors in senior chat rooms, and this works good for them, keeps their PC's out of repair shops, and that's all that matters save them $$$$. plus I instruct them how to use these software programs, repair shops do not, would be bad for repeat business... LOL
