do you have a wireless network? if so have you made sure it is set up securely and used very strong passwords?
Do you think they are monitoring it from inside, outside, or do you think they have been in your home and installed something on your actual pc?
Monitoring can be done if they can gain access to your network if it is not set up properly and securely, or if you have a keylogger program installed that is phoning home to someone with your info. do you have a good firewall installed both software and a router with firewall hardware enabled?
ShieldsUP! shieldsUP by Steve Gibson is a good test for your system an also from Steve the leak test LeakTest
If you go to start> administrative tools> event viewer> then select security double click it, that lets you view any and all activiity logging into your system, you should only be seeing your own logins if you see any others then you could have a problem. you can click on any entry then double click to open the information box on that entry. Have you checked to see if you have any new user accounts that have been created ? go to start >control panel> user accounts there see if you notice any new accounts or ones you have not created.
If you have a router go into the router settings and make sure you have a very strong password and user name.
I have NetGear as a Router, and I have McAfee Security, What is a Keylogger program, and yes I have firewalls set up on my computer, I did the Shields up and was protected, Thanks Sue
a keylogger is a program that records every keystroke you type and sends all the information out to some location to someone. Parents often use them to see what the kids are doing.
but is your router a wireless? if it is then it must be set up with the proper security enabled so that anyone driving by or next door can not just jump right on your network and see what you are doing.
