It's slowing me down so much I can hardly stand to come here anymore. As a page is trying to load, I get all these readings such as... 'transferring data from ping.chartbeat.net' ... 'connecting to' ... 'waiting for pixel' .. 'reading ivdouble.net'

and many more!

Very simple-minded responses please! LOL

Could be many things, but you have to provide more info. What is your Internet connection speed? How much RAM does your system have? What browser are you using? What anti-virus software do you use, and do you keep it updated? That kind of stuff...

kudzu - i have windows vista, 2 GB ram and my browser is FF. I use avast, malwarebytes and superantispyware. It's only been in recently weeks that this has been a problem and only at GW. Sometimes if a thread is very long, it can take close to a full minute for the page to load.

Please help me to stop killing Jasmines!

Hello! Sorry to hear you've been having problems with your jasmines. :( Here are some tips to help you- 1. Jasminum sambac (Sambac jasmines) like a moist but fast draining mix. They don't like soggy soils. I make my own potting mix called 5:1:1 which you can find by searching on this site. If you can't make your own then I suggest a professional potting mix like Fafard or if you can't find that then Miracle-Gro with added perlite for drainage. 2. Depending on where you live Sambacs thrive in full sun but if you live in a really hot place you might want to only give them morning sun, afternoon shade and evening sun or dappled sun throughout the day. 3. Let the potting mix become slightly dry between watering. The easiest way to determine if you need to water is using a moisture meter. That takes the guesswork out of it! 4. Fertilizer. I like to use all purpose Dynamite slow release fertilizer in my mix and every two weeks or so Dyna Gro Foliage Pro liquid fertilizer when I water. They should be fine outside in the warmer months. Just bring them in before it gets cold. These are just the basics. I'm sure others will have lots of good tips for you and I wish you success with jasmines since I too love their scent! :) -Robert Here is a link that might be useful: Some jasmine tips This post was edited by robert1971 on Thu, Jun 26, 14 at 15:50

Missing Tomatoes???

Well, you could bring your containers in at night, as long as you get them back out every single day. May not be practical depending on how many containers you have, though. The whole stalk, huh? Is it possible that your pest is a human?

Blue Pearl leaves shrivelling up
Q
Comments (19)
Thanks everyone for the responses! I was concerned because it seemed as if the leaves were yellowing/shrivelling up quite quickly. While the photo I posted on Monday didn't have any shrivelled up leaves, a couple leaves were starting to yellow and the plant has lost a large amount of leaves since I first got it. The temperatures have been between 15C-25C the last few weeks. Last week had some colder days so I had to bring them inside for few days. My plants are on a balcony so they get some morning light and late afternoon sun. At least 4 hours of afternoon soon - probably more. Thanks again for your help!

Are you using Adblock Plus with your Firefox?

Do you have FF set to delete all history when it closes?

The info you see on the bottom left corner indicates which site is holding you up. I find a graphics one can cause considerable delay at times. You can always open 2 instances of this site then click one thread topic, then select the other open site and click another topic. Then move back to the first site to read. A PITA? Sure but it is better then twiddling the thumbs.

The second instance you open need not be gardenweb, you can select any site you wish to visit while the first one loads.

it sounds like you do not have adblock plus and the easylist added to your firefox and it is being bogged down trying to load all the extra garbage that comes with GW it is so heavily loaded with ads and junk it can take a long time to load pages with out those things added to your firefox.

If you do not have it just go here click add to firefox then it will tell you to restart firefox after that go to the link for easylist and click where it says to add easylist to adblock plus

Adblock Plus
do that first then restart firefox

do this after that
EasyList
click on add to adblock plus

Plus, if you do have FF set to delete all history when it closes it takes extra time for a page to open as cookies have to reload.

Well, as of this moment, it seems to be moving a bit faster. I'm not sure why I did not have adblock or easylist or if it had somehow gotten removed. Thanks for the help, and I'll come back if it appears I'm still having problems. LOL

btw, i don't have FF set to delete history. Should I?

One of the key reasons to delete history is if you care about privacy and others use your computer. If history is not deleted, every single page you go on the web is there for others to examine. On the other hand, if you don't have it set to clear and you want to go back to a site, say, that you visited 3 days ago and didn't bookmark and can't remember the address for, you can go into your history and find it again.

Sounds like you've got the redirect virus in your pc, check out this link on removal, other methods such as malewarebytes or AVG do not work on this one for most people.
