Need a little help here please.

What O/S and which version of IE?

They don't download? Or, they don't install? Are you trying to "run" the download or "save" the download for later installing?

Are you downloading from the manufacturer's site or a mirror site?

Which version of Flash 9 are you attempting to download? It should be v9.0124.0 rather than v9.0.115.0 There is currently a 10 Beta 2 for IE available. I personally would avoid it at this time and until it becomes at least a RC (release candidate).

Good Sunday Morning. Although I've had a computer since 1990 I never learned much. First of all I'm still running Juno 5.0. I tried Juno 7.0 a year or two ago and didn't like the format. So, I got a 5.0 CD and that's where I've stayed. I downloaded IE7.0 again but this time into a different file (one hour and 20 minutes on dial up). Then I deleted the IE7.0 I originally downloaded. Since then my email came back and the entire Juno 5.0 system is working except for a few quirks I can live with. I have not activated the new IE7.0 so I must have another IE running somewhere in the background or my system wouldn't even function. Right? I would like to load IE7.0 but am afraid things will again go to pot, so to speak. But, at least, I know if I have to delete it I won't be dead in the water. Maybe I'll give it a shot one day but not for a while. Thanks, again. Gene

Rita" How untrue that statement is, as much as and as well as the MSWin IE/XP FUD works (you bought the FUD after all, eh), it just ain't so....And if you do it right, and use the right software package to do it, removing BOTH OutLook and IE is a simple and very effective way of making your PC faster, stabler, and w/o IE-OL, more secure too..... And it'll have a smaller footprint and memory requirements, and can be set up as you, not Steve Ballmer, wants it to be. Or you can do the delete "manually" too, but it's (to me anyway) a royal pain in the arse....Instructions for doing it right are in abundance.... I ran "it" for on my last (well, it was really the S.O.'s PC, but I grew weary of having to fix something every, well very often.) MSWin PC, and installed it for a friends daughter (and installed the software that she PURCHASED not stole) on a fPC just a few weeks ago. I am really a beginner so please have patience with me.

I run WindowsXP Media Center 2002.

Programs won't install from the manufacturer's site. I get a message about a dll file.

Where do I find out which version of IE I have? I can't locate it.

Proud Grandma it would be great to know which .dll is causing the problem and the exact error message. Does this happen with any program you try installing or some specific programs?

Regarding Internet Explorer version simply open IE, click Help the click About

Thanks I knew I had seen it somewhere but couldn't remember how to get to it.

My IE is 7.0.5730.11

For instance when I go to www.popcap.com/games and try to download the popcaploader.English I get the message: Setup cannot copy the file popcaploader.dll. Ensure that the location specified below is correct, or change it and insert '(Unknown)' in the drive you specify.

When I go to adobe to download the Flash9 it says that it is installed correctly but I can't find it in the programs and I can't use it with programs that require it such as Weather Channel desktop or Photobucket.

Ah, Popcap. Have you played there before? I ask because my wife played it and you are allowed one hour per game. Even removing and re-installing does not get around a registry entry telling the installer it has reached it's time limit.

You could venture over to Realarcade and play. They have dozens of games. All with the one hour limit but it might keep you busy for a while.

owbist I only play the online games at popcap. There is no time limit. The site you gave me says that I have 9,01,124,0 installed but it does not work when I go to programs that require it. Any suggestions?

Well you never made comment on klaa2's suggestion of installing Firefox as you browser to replace Internet Explorer. Why not try that? I have provided a link to version 2 (stay clear of version 3 for a while), just click on the US version for Windows, download and install. This will not interfere with Internet Explorer and if you are unhappy with it you simply go to your Add/Remove window and remove Firefox. I doubt you will do that once you get the feel for Firefox.

I keep 3 browsers on my computer, I use Firefox almost exclusively but keep IE and Opera so I can see how web pages render in all 3 browsers. Each is totally independent of the others.
