I am going to go out on a limb here and believe we are talking about the screen pointer. That is called a cursor. I like Gene's heat thought. Also, quite often a slow responding "mouse" is a result of lack of system resources. It could be the same here with your laptop's "cursor". In both cases as multi-tasking activities amass perhaps the system can't keep up. A reboot then creates a reset and everything starts over fresh. I have 2 wireless mouses or um mice?? that I really like one is a GE and one is a Gear Head MP2000WU both are the smaller size notebook mouse which I much prefer they just fit and feel better in my hand than the big ones. The Gear Head has the suede feel rubber on the click part of the top and on the sides where you grip it. They both have the small usb receiver that is about the size of a thumb drive or smaller. The GE has a place that opens on the top that the receiver stores in which is nice. One takes AAA one takes AA batteries. I have tried wireless keyboards and no matter the brand I just did not like them, they go through batteries like crazy even the rechargables. GEAR HEAD MP2000WU Mine is all black but it is this one. the dongle for this one is a bit wide and in some cases can partly block the usb port beside it but it does come with a cord to use as an extension if you need it. GE 98792 that is what the GE one looks like, I use it daily it is my main mouse and I love it, nice and small easy to hold batteries last quite well and you can put the dongle inside under the black center part. I have had it and use it daily for a couple years I think, it has never had any problems. oh I just found my mouse in pink, for an excellent price too , it is usually listed around $30 ... I may need this pink one LOL Pink but I see it also comes in blue, mine is silver and black. I had bought a set with a logitech wireless keyboard and mouse but brought it back after a few days, it ate batteries and the keyboard had keys doing kkkkkksssssssss ooooooo etc all the time, Hated it. This one is also a great mouse my husband has it, it comes in handy since he does a lot of conferences and can use the built in laser pointer. It last forever on batteries. Has extra long range. If this is a wired mouse... ---> If it has a round connector, that's a PS2 connector, and the computer must be turned off when it's plugged in. Then turn it on and boot up. Or, if the machine is already on when you plug in a PS2 mouse, you'll have to restart (reboot) it, in order for the mouse to be recognized. ---> If it has a flat, USB connector, it can be plugged into any available USB port; and the machine can be turned on when the mouse is plugged in. USB equipment should be recognized right away when it's plugged in. As Dilly_Dally said, you probably should go into Control Panel and click on the icon for "Mouse" and make sure all of the settings are correct. Also, bear in mind that when an external mouse is plugged into a laptop, it doesn't automatically disable the built-in touchpad on the laptop. If your thumb, or shirt sleeve, etc., brushes across the touchpad, that will affect what the pointer does and where it ends up.

Well, it is not the toggling fn+f5, it has nothing to do with a wireless mouse. I have run my AV, checked to see if there was a conflict with any other program, there is not. Wen I start up regularly my mouse will not work, I can move the mouse around on the screen, but as far as clicking on anything, I can't. My laptop is a Toshiba L655D, I have not downloaded anything new prior to the mouse not working. I did d/l a driver for the touchpad from Toshiba's support site. The keyboard mouse/touchpad only works in SAFE MODE. And, I had a wireless mouse, I had changed the battery, checked for drivers, etc. In an act of frustration I threw the wireless mouse against the wall, that was the end of the wireless mouse.
