MS Publisher 2002

I create all my templates on MS Publisher2002 and now MS is telling me it can't help me when I get messages that it isn't accessible and closes. If I buy a MS Publisher 2007 upgrade, will I be able to access the templates made on the 2002? Murphey's Law comes into play with this - I can access my templates a lot o the time - only when I am in a hurry and needing something in a hurry does it freezes up on me. Someone suggested that I un-install and re-install the program. Any thoughts?

Removing the program then re-installing could indeed cure the issue if there are corrupt files. However you need to know where your own creations are stored. Most programs have the work saved in a sub folder inside the same folder as the program itself so you might want to use Windows Explorer and save all you work elsewhere for safety.

All my creations are in my documents so they should be safe. I'll try un-install/re-install and let you know how it turns out... Thanks for the input! It is appreciated.

Yes, still traveling until the end of the month. We ''donated'' Luna's tent and food to the vet clinic, as they said they could easily find someone who could use them. It was too hard to take those things along. Like all of you, they were very kind. I'm not looking forward to dealing with her crate when we get home. She really loved her crate, and would go in to nap several times a day. I feel like a total dishrag.

Outlook 2002 very slow echoing typing

Well, the good news was "detect and repair" fixed the problem, the bad news, fixed for only about 2 minutes. Looked further on the web and found this is a common, big (MS Screw up) problem for any Outlook older that 2007 on XP, seems Vista Outlook doesn't have problem..but then I suppose it is Outlook 2007. The problem is related to IE7 and Outlook and the way IE7 handles bogus web sites, causing many checks for each HTML character typed into Outlook. A work around that seems solid is to change the Outlook text format to Rich Text, which I have done and it is still working several hours later.

This is my day for questions. I am the editor of a small newsletter. Dell does not give Word and I got Word Perfect 10 on my 2002 Dell computer. I have gotten familar with Word Perfect but it will NOT accept Word documents. I purchased Publisher's Pro software and it seems like what I need but cannot get answers on some questions from their support on simple, basic questions. My question at the moment is "can the space (leading) between lines of text be changed? Sometimes I need to adjust the spacing so that an article will fit in a designated place. Is anyone familar with Publisher's Pro? While I'm asking questions, can I uninstall WP10 and reinstall it without problems. Will it still be able to read my past issues without problems. Sorry for so many questions but this place is absolutely the best place for non-literate computer users to get answers.

Often the lock is caused by an improper shutdown. Open it up, do a "Save As" and save it under a different name. You should then be able to open the newly saved file for editing.

Yes, you should be able to access templates made on an earlier version. It would be a rare software that wouldn't be backwards compatible - especially one from Microsoft.

UPDATE! I uninstalled and reinstalled my Publisher and so far so good - I am able to access saved programs thsat were unavailable to me earlier - I just hope it works again... Thanks for all your help folks. If I continue to have problems, my next step will be to buy the upgrade. Thanks again for all the help!
